Looking back – and forward … #HolidayRomance #Giveaway #Memories @JPBowie

Looking back

By J.P. Bowie (Guest Blogger)

My thanks to Lisabet for letting me join her today to celebrate the release of Yule Be Mine – three festive romances by Lisabet, Em Woods and myself. I met Lisabet some years ago in Los Angeles, at a ‘get-together’ author dinner hosted by Claire Siemaszkiewicz, the owner of Totally Bound Publishing for whom we were both writing at the time. We hit off right away and I still remember our conversation and the evening with fondness.

The next festive occasion after Christmas and New Years is, of course Valentine’s Day, and I’m thrilled to have been chosen to join the Pride Publishing anthology, My Bloody Valentine – a kind of thriller type Valentine’s story – a bit different from the norm. My story is entitled Dark Valentine.

Blurb

Valentine’s Night, when the line between the real and the unreal becomes blurred…

New boyfriends Brandon and Ryder are invited to an upscale Valentine’s party in Santa Monica. Brandon had heard how ‘fabulous’ the parties are, so he’s surprised by the creepy décor, and some even creepier ghouls who seem to have taken the place of the hosts. They can’t be real, can they?

An erotic cabaret that ends with one of the dancers seemingly either killed or seriously injured upsets Brandon. Ryder attempts to calm him down, but they’re both horrified when they discover a dead body upstairs with a knife embedded in its chest!

What the heck kind of party is this? Is everything and everyone surrounding them for real…or are they the victims of a practical joke?

We can only hope that Ryder and Brandon live to find out!

My Bloody Valentine is available for pre-order now, for a December 22nd release. Reserve your copy today!

About Me

I have been writing gay romance with an erotic edge for close to twenty years and last count had over ninety books – a mixture of novels, short stories and anthologies encompassing just about every genre within the m/m sphere. Vampires, detectives and cowboys – oh my – also some historical, and some regular guys in contemporary settings. I enjoy writing very much, in fact often I feel obsessed by it. I get antsy when I don’t have a half-completed manuscript in front of me. Even though there are thousands of writers out there, I still feel I have something to offer readers, maybe something a little different, a little more tantalizing.

Some personal details… I was born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. When I turned nineteen I left for the bright lights of London and soon found my niche working in the theater, both front of house and backstage, before auditioning as a singer, and being accepted for my first show. For the next twelve years I toured with various companies then was lucky enough to appear in three West End theaters and cabarets.

Fate directed me to the US much to my surprise, and I have lived here, mostly in Nevada and California for several years. In Vegas I worked for those redoubtable magicians, Siegfried and Roy before moving to San Diego in California. I did think that my travels were over, but last February, Phil, my husband, and I moved to the desert in the Palm Springs area. Hopefully, here we’ll stay.

I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As difficult as this year has been, I hope the future holds good health and happiness for us all.

As Tiny Tim said, “God bless us, every one!”

Me late faither was born in Glesga--not Aberdeen. But he always had an affinity for the US-West, even though he lived in Chicago for almost 60 years. His brother moved out to Fresno in Cali, after the Chicago winters were too much for him. My dad used to joke about growing up where, when the weather got above 60, you knew the tourists from the locals. The tourists were putting on jackets and shivering, and the locals were in tank-tops and shorts, rubbing in suntan lotion and basking in the rays.

Aberdeen has a beautiful beach that stretches for what seemed like miles when I was a kid. On a sunny day we'd try to beat the clouds to get a tan - without much success mostly! And watch out for the jelly fish in the water!
