Even as Caleb forces Leigh’s expansion plans on hold, the couple moves full-steam-ahead on their relationship, unable to resist the mutual attraction. So why, after a steamy night together, does Caleb disappear for weeks? Has Leigh put her heart out there again, just to be played?

Will the magic of a moonlit night be enough to kindle their love or will Caleb’s constant disappearing act prevent him from melting this ice queen’s heart?

Excerpt

Exhausted and anxious to return home, Leigh wasn’t paying attention as she stepped out the door of the small law office at the end of the row of storefronts. Leigh went down hard on the cement, her skirt flying up, her brochures flying. A shook-up Leigh assessed the damage and caught her breath. Her dignity was beyond repair.

Leigh was brushing the dirt from her palms, scraped from trying to break her fall when a shadow blocked the sun, and a large, dirty hand, attached to a long, strong arm reached down to assist her. Leigh’s gaze followed the flannel covered forearm up over a muscled bicep and continued until her scrutiny was arrested by a pair of coffee-colored eyes surrounded by the deep laugh lines of an outdoorsman. He was staring vast expanse of creamy thigh and more than a hint of her magenta panties. His expression told Leigh that he liked what he saw.

Leigh clumsily scrambled to lower her dress, gather the brochures fluttering in the breeze, and take the proffered hand all at once. Several pamphlets escaped down the sidewalk, but she quickly forgot them as she was lifted like a feather against her mountain’s chest and too swiftly placed gently on her feet. She winced when the blisters made contact with the hard surface beneath them and the lumberjack buried behind a grizzly bear beard reacted.

Injured, little lady?” he asked with concern. “Let me help you get you to urgent care.

"That won't be necessary," Leigh responded, smoothing her dress to cover her embarrassment and interest.

"Then at least let me help you to your destination.”

I was just heading to my car, down the ways,” Leigh tried to gesture with the arm the man still held. “But, I’m fine. Really. I can take it from here.”

Fine, indeed,” Grizzly Adams replied in a sarcastic, deep baritone.

He was tall, covered in a subtle sheen of dirt and sweat, but Leigh quickly realized the shirt under her fingertips was the finest wool and his boots, caked in an inch of dried mud, were Scarpa Phantom 8000's. He was a very wealthy Grizzly Adams, and a dedicated hiker too. Those boots were featured in the mountaineering store up the road for over $1000, way too rich for Leigh’s blood.

He stood still, his smile twitching as caught Leigh checking him out. Then, without warning, he swept her into his arms, carefully adjusted her dress to modestly cover her behind while managing to slide his hand all along them. The man was a pro. Leigh couldn't fault his effort, even as she realized he was copping a feel. Carrying her easily, he began taking long strides in the direction she had pointed.

This is completely unnecessary,” Leigh repeated more than once, interspersed with “put me down, please” and “Really I can walk.” He ignored them all, speaking right over her repeated and flustered objections.

You took a nasty fall there. People are always missing that last step." His face was too close and too handsome. He smelled of the outdoors - pine, sweat and sunshine.
It was intoxicating.

Are you sure you wouldn’t prefer I took you over to the doc’s office or the urgent care?”

Just to my car, thanks,” Leigh requested, done trying to argue with the hard-muscled man. Who was she kidding? It felt incredible to rest against his broad chest, his arms holding her securely and his minty breath blowing on her face. He may have been filthy, a bearded mountain man who was certainly not her type, but he was sexy as hell. Leigh wished her car was miles away. ,

Will you be ok to drive, Miss…”

Leigh.”

Miss Leigh,” he repeated, caressing her name. “Are you sure you’ll be alright to drive?”

Leigh bobbed her head in the affirmative. She loved resting her head against the power of this man’s chest, secure in his firm grip. Leigh looked up at him from under her eyelashes, admiring what she saw. She could tell that under the caked on mud and scruff, he was handsome, with a cocky smile and those laughing eyes. She wished she could see more.

This is my car,” she finally motioned. “Thank you, Mr…”

You’re certain you can drive?” he asked in his slow, smooth drawl, ignoring her question.

I’m not going far,” Leigh reassured him. “I’ll be fine.”

The mountain man placed Leigh on her feet, holding her by the waist as if waiting for reassurance that she was solidly standing. Leigh looked down as if to assure herself both feet were there and with a deep breath made eye contact. The man was a head taller, broad and powerful, and staring at her as if he wanted to devour her. A hot flush filled Leigh's cheeks, and she extended a hand to shake his.

Well, thank you again. You certainly turned out to be my knight in shining armor today,” she jested.

Well, Miss Leigh, then I guess I get my knight’s favor,” the man responded with a devilish grin. Leigh was still registering his warning when he lowered his head to hers and placed his warm lips upon her cooler ones.

Star Wars meets Pretty Woman - #scifiromance #99cents #giveaway @AuthorKKruspe

An Alien Exchange cover

By Keri Kruspe (Guest Blogger)

You might be wondering why I wrote this book (or maybe not, but I will tell you anyway!)

I was reading one of my favorite sci-fi romances on my electronic reader after watching the latest’s news about computer hacking. It got me thinking…what if aliens hacked into my reading habits to find someone like me who liked alien romances. Wouldn’t that be a perfect way to find women who might be willing to leaving Earth to find love among the stars…

I envisioned Star Wars meets Pretty women. And that, they say, was that. My story An Alien Exchange was born.

I dedicate this book to those who are alone in a crowd. To those who are desperately trying to right a wrong they’ve done in the past. Sometimes taking a chance may seem crazy, but you’ll never know until you try.

Aimee Gwiazdowski has a passion for Alien Abduction romance stories. She vicariously lives through the heroines of her books to escape her lonely, loveless life. Until one morning, she wakes up in a strange, white room where an alluring voice invites her to the “Exchange” to find love and adventure in another world. Did she dare believe it? Could she leave everything behind and take a chance to become one of those heroines who finds true love among the stars?

Exiled Prince Qayyum E’etu and commander of the space vessel StarChance has a mission—transport the human women to the Exchange along with an offer he can’t refuse: find evidence against rumored human trafficking connected with the Exchange. If he can successfully bring the traitors back to Zerin for justice, it would give him a chance to return home. How was he supposed to know that meeting a human woman would put everything he was working for in jeopardy?

As unforeseen evil slowly brews discord within the galaxy, it works to tear Aimee and Qay further apart. If they don’t learn to overcome their fears and trust the love they have for each other, the coming cataclysm will devastate not only Zerin, but Earth as well.

An Alien Exchange is the first book in a sci-fi romance that features intergalactic action, engrossing plots, and courageous individuals. If you like fast-paced action, raw emotions, and sexy aliens, you’ll love this new space adventure.

Star struck, she gawked at him with her mouth open. Any preconceived notion she had about masculine beauty changed. His overt, exceptional maleness matched the images she’s conjured while reading her sci-fi romances.

His skin was a light russet brown nestled by a pearlescent sheen. Hair black as midnight layered with strands of cobalt blue reflected when he moved. A subtle widow’s peak crowned a smooth, wide forehead. A tiny intricate braid at his right temple ended in a long curl at the front of his crotch, framing his manhood. Pulled hair bared ears larger than a human’s, the tips ending in a slight point. A small gold hoop pierced the left tip, twinkling as it danced and teased in the light. Aimee’s lips moistened as she envisioned savoring the combination of warm flesh and cool steel.

She took in his matching black eyebrows. They rose up and down like an upside down V over his almond-shaped eyes framed by a set of thick lashes. Instead of black, his pupils were a dark iridescent green, oval-shaped and surrounded by a ring of dual color. The first ring was a dark emerald with the outer ring a contrasting shade of lighter green. His full lips parted in a patronizing smile and displayed small fangs where human eyeteeth were.

He pulled his arms away from his chest and she noticed he had three fingers on each hand instead of four. Those fingers were long and thick, one digit not any shorter or smaller than another— his thumbs no different than a human.

She sighed, trying to picture how many toes he had.

Satisfied?” His amused accented tone left no doubt he was making fun of her. “Believe in aliens now?”

Excerpt - from “Night Visits” by Delores Swallows

Lisa headed up to bed as soon as they got back and felt the now-familiar chill at the top of the stairs. She shook her head, not sure what she’d do if the new windows didn’t cure the draught. She closed the blind and turned on the small bedside lamps, pleased with how cosy the bedroom looked. As Andrew came upstairs, she took off her blouse. She was facing the bed when he approached from behind. His hands slid up her legs and under her skirt; they gripped the waistband of her panties and pulled them down.

She sighed. “Don’t even think about it.”

Andrew dropped to his knees and rolled the panties all the way down to her ankles, pulling them over her feet one at a time. Then he pushed her feet apart and bent her forwards until her hands rested on the bed.

Lisa laughed. “Hey, I hope you’re not really expecting—”

He bent his knees and pushed into her in one fluid movement, making her yelp. He was incredibly hard again, and his entry had been painful.

Andrew, stop treating me like—”

He reached round and pinched her nipples through her bra, causing her to cry out again. His hands moved to her hips, his fingers digging in while he pounded her from behind, each thrust going deep and hurting her.

Stop pushing in so far…What happened to foreplay?”

Andrew reached round and placed his fingers on either side of her clit, tracing circles around her quickly-swelling nub.

Lisa let out a sigh as he continued his assault from behind. Something about living here was having an effect on his manhood. She’d never felt so filled before—he seemed longer and thicker that she could ever remember. A moan escaped her lips, which provoked him to fuck her even harder.

Ow! Andrew, slow down and let me…catch…”

She lost the will to argue as he maintained the long, deep thrusts with his cock, his fingers moving faster around her clit, sending her tumbling into an orgasm.

Oh God. Oh fuck. Oh…” Her legs began to shake; she could no longer hold herself up on her arms. The force of his thrusts pushed her over onto the bed, and he followed her down, banging her from behind, pressing down on her back.

Hey—hey! Let me turn over.”

As he pulled out, she rolled onto her back and spread her legs. He immediately re-entered and started fucking her with long, slow thrusts.

Ooh, that’s better. Fuck me like this for a while.”

Andrew’s eyes were closed. She ran her hands over his arms and shoulders. He must have stripped on the landing, because he was completely naked. Lisa closed her eyes, concentrating on the sensations emanating from her core and spreading throughout. Her body seemed to be reacting to the thickness and length of his cock.

I’m going to come again. Can you come with me?” She opened her eyes and stroked his face. “See if you can come at the same time. I want us to—”

The words stuck in her throat. A coldness seized her. Her husband was looking down at her, but the eyes she stared into were not Andrew’s. These were dark, almost black. Lisa wanted to scream and push him off, but her body betrayed her. To her utter embarrassment, the second orgasm surged through her, making her entire body shudder. Her toes curled, her eyes closed and worst of all, she let out long whimper of pleasure. Keeping her eyes closed, she rode out the storm coursing through her.

Paradigm Shift: The Future Comes from Behind #scifi #giveaway #99cents

Future Comes From Behind cover

Fighting what we've become.

An ancient dimension of dark echoes from the past.

Lisa and her family barely manage to escape an invasion from the Rebel army in their home of Malta. Shortly after this episode, she discovers Exo, the ancient dimension she cannot understand until her late 20s. Exo is made of memories of the past; it brings forth all the strong echoes we leave behind. Lisa desperately wants to resolve the conflicts of this inner world peacefully, but quickly learns she must fight the shadows in people's hearts, materialized through battle re-enactments, warfare and emotional turmoil.

Excerpt

Soon the windows revealed smaller buildings and less crowded streets. The train grew emptier too. Lisa heard the monotonous hum of the wheels more clearly; it slowed her heartbeat down to a peaceful pace. In a flash, as she had done many times before, she crossed into what she believed to be a dreaming state of mind.

A dense forest surrounded her. It was cold, and patches of snow covered the ground.

It feels so real… But I wanted a nice view of wild, untamed mountains. And a waterfall. And why can’t I better control the season or the clothes I’m wearing? Lisa wondered, shivering a little. There! She finally spotted an exit from the curtain of trees.

Below, a large lake covered with floating sheets of ice lay at her feet. She was indeed on a mountain. The fresh air was freezing, but she breathed it in eagerly, ignoring the abundant vapors of her warm breath.

What could this resemble? Canada? Alaska? Lisa had learned that, by focusing very deeply with closed eyes, she could sometimes change her clothing or some of the details around her.

This time, only a long scarf appeared on her shoulders after she opened her eyes. “Not enough,” she said, shivering, but proceeded to walk along the cliff regardless. Minutes later, she stopped to take a better look into the distance. A boat? I don’t want to come across any other people this time...Ah, it’s just a log. She could not stand the cold any longer, so she thought about getting back.

Greg raised an eyebrow when he noticed her repeated blinking.

Your lucid dreams again?”

Lisa nodded in confession.

Where did you go this time?”

Far…far from these many babylons.”

Just another reason why we are a perfect match.” He smiled.

They are so real. And they feel so long, though they really last just a fraction of a second.”

Do you meet any people in there?”

Yes, but I avoid them. It scares me to death how intense and unpredictable they are. Last week I met a tribe in Africa and before that I was in the middle of a medieval city.”

Lucky you,” said Greg. “It’s a strange yet blissful anomaly, to escape reality like that.”

Review Tuesday: Phoenix and Dragon by Suz de Mello -- #eroticromance #multicultural #ReviewTuesday

Phoenix and Dragon cover

Phoenix and Dragon by Suz de Mello
Dunster Way Books, 2017

San Francisco Police detective Eliza Bowen is a tough gal. Raised by her black mom after being abandoned by her white father, she belonged to a street gang before she went straight. First in the Vice Squad, now in the Major Crimes Unit, she’s known as a hard-working, even driven, officer who doesn’t quit until she sees the perps get what they deserve.

Her current case has her stumped, though. A young paralegal has disappeared without a trace. There’s no sign of a struggle, no clues at all, until Liza unearths a secret diary kept by the victim, Sindie Keller. The sexually explicit journal reveals that on the night she vanished, Sindie’s boss, with whom she was having a kinky affair, sent her to a particular bar dressed in red leather, carrying a copy of The Story of O. Liza decides to mimic the vic’s actions, figuring whoever picked up the victim might try the same trick with her.

Sure enough, a man appears, binds her, and whisks her away in a fancy sports-car. Liza is disturbed to find that her captor is James Li, notorious owner of several brothels around the city. When she was in Vice, she’d tried to bring him down, but had never been able to make any charges stick. His infuriating ability to get away with his crimes is only part of what disturbs her, though. Li is charming, intelligent and breathtakingly good looking. Liza knows he should be off-limits for a cop like her, but it’s difficult to resist temptation. When he takes charge, demanding her total obedience for a weekend in return for the full truth about Sindie, it’s not just professional interest that makes her consent.

James “makes” Liza into his slave. He shares her with other men. He dresses her in shamefully revealing clothing and parades her around his fancy whorehouses. He teases her mercilessly and punishes her when she fails to follow his orders. Most of all, he uses her sexually, in every way imaginable. Liza finds the experience of submission simultaneously thrilling and horrifying, give how it challenges her self-image as a tough and independent woman. Still, there’s something about James that satisfies her, in ways no previous lover has ever been able to do.

Phoenix and Dragon is subtitled “Romantic Suspense”, but there’s a lot more romance than suspense in this novel. The setup with the missing paralegal provides a mechanism to get Liza and James together. From that point on, the book focuses entirely on their interaction, their sexual games, and their growing relationship. The end of the book ties up the loose threads regarding the Sindie Keller case, but this feels like an after-thought.

Not that this is necessarily a complaint. Phoenix and Dragon is erotic romance with an emphasis on erotic. The sex scenes (of which there are many) are well-written, varied and intense. As a dominant, James is both creative and considerate. As a lover, he’s astoundingly virile and predictably enormous. Liza meets him halfway, rising to his every challenge, discovering the paradoxical strength to be found in submission. As the story unfolds, she learns that he’s not the manipulative, exploitative villain she had believed, but a self-made entrepreneur with strong family ties, who has wanted her for a long time.

Some of the Amazon reviews of this book warn that the sex might be too extreme for some readers. I presume they’re referring to the BDSM content in some of the scenes. One review referred to “disturbing elements”, another to “dark themes”. I found this surprising because I actually felt that Ms. de Mello too often pulled her punches with regard to the kink. Li isn’t a true Dom, just a rich, good-looking guy who’s used to getting what he wants. When the novel takes his point of view, he’s clear on the fact that he really doesn’t feel all that comfortable inflicting pain on his partner. He enjoys having Liza in his power, sexually, but to be honest, the psychological dynamic is a far cry from serious BDSM.

My other (relatively minor) complaint about this book was that it was all too easy. There aren’t any obstacles to Liza and James falling in love. Indeed, it feels inevitable. Hence, there’s no real conflict to be resolved.

It’s still satisfying to see Liza lowering her guard and letting James into her heart. That is, after all, what romance is about.

If you’re looking for an appealing heroine and a seductive hero, who share amazing sexual chemistry, you can’t go wrong with Phoenix and Dragon. Just don’t expect a taut thriller or push-your-limits, make-you-squirm kink.

Here’s an excerpt from A Delivery of Words (A Kink a Day: Book One)

Leaning forward, I fixed Joe with my professional stare, but allowed a flicker of a smile to play at the corner of my eyes, ‘What’s the thing that gets you going exactly? The fact you deliver naughty books and sex-toys to my house? The idea of me sitting here innocently writing porn? Or the fact that I spend most of my time thinking about sex?’

My courier returned my steady look, but I could see amusement struggling to escape from the corner of his lips. ‘I asked you a question?’

Joe grinned, giving me a glimpse of surprisingly white teeth. ‘I guess it’s the innocence thing.’

Innocence? That’s not a word I’m usually associated with.’

I bet it’s not!’ He picked up his coffee cup and took a thoughtful sip. ‘At least, not by people who know you. To the rest of the world, well, you look so, so ...’

Ordinary?’ I smiled to let him know the word wasn’t offensive to me.

Well, yes, I mean, you’re attractive and all that, but you don’t look like a queen of porn.’

Exactly.’

I’m sorry?’

I don’t look a threat, so people tell me things. Their most intimate secrets. It’s a bit like being an actress really. I adopt different personas to get information and stories out of the unsuspecting public, and then I write about what they’ve told me.’

So you don’t make it all up then?’

Not always, no. Sometimes I invent short stories, but most of the time I record the weird and wonderful exploits of the unbelievably and wonderfully warped public.’

Oh.’

I could tell he was disappointed, so I leant forward and gave Joe my flirtiest conspiratorial look. ‘Any stories you wish to share?’

Now he looked really embarrassed. ‘Not really. Nothing unusual enough for you, I’m sure.’

Would you like there to be?’...
