Opening the door, I offer her a hand. "Get out of the car, Ruby." She does not resist. Her palm is sticky with her dried juices. When she releases my hand, I hold it to my nose, inhaling deeply. My mouth waters in anticipation. "Lean against the railing. I want to admire the view."

Ruby looks simultaneously embarrassed and defiant. "You promised, Rick..."

"Come now, Ruby. You started this. You want this." The first statement is not strictly true, but the second clearly is. She does not protest further, but obeys my command, facing the steel rail and looking out over the city spread below us.

The curved top of the guard rail reaches her mid-thigh. "Hands on the railing, please. Bend over." Silently Ruby complies. Her skirt is still tangled around her waist. Her bikini panties hang loosely on her hips, stretched and stained from her earlier exertions. I reach for them, pull them down to her ankles and off. She shivers when my hand comes in contact with her bare flesh.

I've seen Ruby's ass before, of course, that night in the cab. Up close. But it was dark, and though I could see the details, it was hard to get the whole picture, as I do now.

The late afternoon sun gilds her paleness to warm gold. The glow underscores the shadows, the crease where her thighs begin, the crevice between her cheeks. Like her breasts, the fluid curves of her buttocks are perfect. They swell toward me, lush and full. I have a nearly overwhelming urge to palm and stroke them. I imagine spanking them, the marks of my fingers blossoming red in the wake. I see myself holding them apart as I plunge my cock into her depths. My erection tightens another notch at this mental image.

But I do none of these things. I merely stand behind her, admiring her nakedness, allowing the shame and the suspense to build in her. A car races by, swings around the curve and is gone. She twitches at the sound, but remains where she is. Where I have positioned her.

What now? God, I'd love to take her right here, out in the open like this. My cock screams for it. She wouldn't stop me, not now, not after that orgasm, guilty proof of her lust for me. But that's not enough. I want her to ask me, to beg me to fuck her. I want her to admit to me how much she wants me. Needs me. And she's not there yet, I'm certain. Today was just the first step.

I want to use her, though, pleasure her and humble her at the same time. Fingers are not enough. Again, I wish that I had kept her little whip. Then I have a thought; perhaps she brought it herself.

Stealthily, I walk over to the car, reach in and grab her purse. The twinge of guilt when I snap it open is quickly replaced by my triumph over what I've found. Not the flogger, true, but something as good, or better. An elegant stainless steel vibrator, slender and feminine. It's about the diameter of a lipstick tube, and perhaps three times as long. Just the thing.

"Ruby," I say, walking back to her bent figure and holding the dildo up for her to see. "Look what I found. As I expected, you are always prepared." She turns and tries to glare at me, but desperate hunger overcomes her rage. "Do you want it, Ruby?" She looks out over Los Angeles, stonily silent. I don't press her. She's given enough, earned some reward.

With one hand, I reach between her splayed thighs. I brush my fingertip across the silky hair on her mound, just the barest of touches. A shudder runs through her body. With the same fingertip, I part that fur, seeking her clit. It practically jumps out to meet my finger, rigid and slick. At my first touch, she whimpers and presses her pubis against my hand. Teasing, I pull away, but then I give her what she is seeking. First and second fingers grasp the taut little knob between them, squeezing, while the rest dabble in her soaked folds.

Ruby moans, arches backward to open herself to my hand. I slide my fingers back and forth in her sex, spreading her wetness from the sensitive button at the apex to pucker of muscle at the back. When I graze that spot, her whole body jerks. High voltage. I try a fingertip there, working against the resistance I find. "No," she sighs, or maybe "Oh", as my well-lubricated digit slips partway inside her. I wriggle inside her, feel her clench down on my finger. Imagine that she's doing that to my cock, and almost lose it right there.

I twist the bottom of the vibrator. The motor is nearly silent, but the vibration sends a buzz up my arm and down into my groin. Oh, Ruby—

"Open wide, babe." I stroke the toy lengthwise through her folds, twice, lubricating it thoroughly. She jerks as the humming metal comes in contact with her engorged flesh. Then I take the dildo away and count to fifteen. She's quivering all over. I touch the tip to the whorl of her anus and leave it there. She trembles violently. For a moment, I think she will come just from this external stimulation. That's not enough for me though. I want to penetrate her. To screw her. I rotate the dildo slowly while applying steady pressure. It begins to slide into her anus. "Argh!" she cries, pushing her hips backward. Her sudden movement embeds the shaft deeply in her butt. She jerks forward again with another cry, almost pulling the toy from my grasp.

"Let me," I say, reaching my right arm around her hips and cupping her mound in my palm to steady her. She grinds herself against me. With the other hand I grasp the vibrator and begin a slow stroking. She relaxes slightly, allowing me to support her, opening herself so that I can enter her.

It's incredibly hot, watching that shiny rod disappear into her dark hole then reappear smeared with her fluids. Once, twice, a dozen times I plunge the thing into her. My cock gets harder with each thrust, until the throbbing becomes pain. I can't stand it any longer. I leave the vibrator jutting obscenely from her anus and unzip my fly. My erection springs from my pants, eager for action.

I rub it against her satin-smooth rear cheek. I can't help it. Somehow I expect her to object, but she is too far gone, quivering in time with the motor lodged in her butt-hole. I resume my thrusts with the dildo. Now my own pelvis is thrusting in time. My cock is lodged comfortably between her flesh and my pants, reveling in the freedom and the friction.

Dimly I hear a car pass, realize that it has slowed before moving on, but I don't care. I'm close to coming, and I sense that Ruby is too. I fuck her ass harder, faster, imagining all the while that it is my cock buried in that tight darkness. She moans and twists under the weight of my body. The come boils in my balls.

"Ruby," I whisper in her ear, "you're such a magnificent slut." I push the dildo in to the hilt with one hand, pinch her clit with the other. Her scream echoes through the hills. She clamps my hand between her thighs, nearly breaking my wrist. Her orgasm shudders through her in huge waves. As she crashes against me, I feel the cum rising in my stalk and spraying over her buttocks and back. A fountain of exquisite pleasure. I stagger, would fall but for her form braced against the rail.

Life and Writing: Forge the two and make it work

By Erzabet Bishop (Guest Blogger)

Sometimes my life and writing don’t go hand in hand. I work a full time job as a bookstore manager and my schedule is anything but set. There are days I have to be at work at six in the morning and other times three in the afternoon. It’s a bouncing ball but I manage.

I’ve heard a lot of writing advice over the years and have come to a single conclusion. The only thing you simply must do is not give up. #Don’t Quit. Things can get tough. Life gets in the way. All the time and every day. You steal time here and there and you make it happen. You. No one else.

What does that mean? You think about plot lines when you’re folding laundry or making dinner. You write down notes so when you get in front of the computer you’re ready to rock. There is no time to stare at the screen and wonder what’s coming out of your fingertips today. Nope. You only have twenty minutes? Use it. Any word count is good word count as long as it points you in the right direction. And if not? You scrap it or save it and start again.

Right now I’m on vacation and that means I have deadlines. Big ones and lots of them but I use my time as best I can. I’m getting faster at my hourly word count and I love my Pro Writing Aid for quick edits before the story goes out the door.

Rejections? All the time. You get up, dust your pants off and send it out again. Learn from every one. You may not see it yet, but you will and then you’ll laugh and rework it. Happens. It’s a work of writing. They aren’t rejecting you.

If you want to write, there are sacrifices that will be made. My hubby loves to watch movies and play games in the living room. I can maybe get twenty minutes of television in while I’m eating and then I’m back on task with a vengeance. Time is precious, so I snag it when I can. He helps me with trips to the grocery store and the occasional fast food run. And he knows after dinner--it’s my time and when the bedroom door shuts, I’m in at least until a quarter to one if I don’t have to be up at an ungodly hour the next morning.

So life…writing. We tango. We weave around each other and hope to meet in the middle some days. And when we do…ah. It’s magic.

Pomegranate came to be from just such an episode. It was a work of love and the beginning of a whole new series where a woman decides for herself who she will love and how she will use the power she was given to change the world.

I hope you will enjoy the excerpt and if you pick up a copy, it means the world if you leave a review. Even a short line or two. Leave a comment about your favorite myth or fairy tale you want to see twisted and win a copy of Pomegranate.

Happy Reading.

XOXO
Erzabet

Excerpt

Persephone took a breath. Her mouth was dry and her skin slick with sweat. She was thirsty. So thirsty. Her eyes wouldn’t focus, and her heart was racing.

You look like you could use this.” A woman in a black mask and unbuttoned tux jacket approached, holding out a bottle of water. The white dress shirt was halfway open, straining against her breasts. Every movement tugged against the soft flesh, hinting at the bounty buried beneath the fabric. Vest unbuttoned over leather pants and kickass boots, she made Persephone’s breath catch in her throat. The woman’s black hair was slicked back into a tight bun, her red lips plump and succulent.

Hands shaking, Persephone took the bottle. “Thank you.” What is wrong with me?”

This is your first rave, I take it?”

Yes.” She drank the cool water, each swallow bringing her more clarity. Soon the bottle was drained and dangled empty in her grasp.

It can be a little much when they turn on the purple wave. Here. Sit.” The masked woman led her to a chair. Large and white, it faced an enormous fireplace. Green fire burned within. Persephone fell into the chair, her dress spilling around her. She watched the green fire dance, marveling at the images unfolding. Her mind was still muzzy but she saw...no....

Faces...there are faces,” she gasped, trying to push herself up from the chair.

Sunday Snog #166: A Kiss and A Contest

Happy Sunday...I mean, Snog Day!

Today I'm celebrating the release of my first single author F/F book with a sweet and sexy kiss. And of course I have a contest. Leave me a comment telling me how you feel about F/F fiction. (Include your email, please!) I'll draw one winner from among the commenters. If the winner likes lesbian erotica or erotic romance, I'll send her (or him) a copy of the Lammy-nominated anthology Forbidden Fruit: Stories of Unwise Lesbian Desire (which includes my story "The First Stone"). If the winner prefers heterosexual erotica and romance, he (or she) will receive a copy of my paranormal erotic romance Serpent's Kiss.

When you're done with my snog (and have left your comment!), head back to Victoria's Snog Central for more luscious lip-locks.

It's not about power. It's about love.

Hush now.” The raven-haired woman combed her jewel-encircled fingers through Emmy’s platinum locks. “Don’t be afraid.” Warm lips branded Emmy’s brow. A supple tongue flicked out to gather the tears from Emmeline’s cheeks. Through wine-colored velvet, Marguerite’s ample bosom, simultaneously soft and firm, pillowed her own more modest breasts. A whiff of cinnamon tickled her nose, followed by the musky aroma of female arousal.

Emmeline’s already swollen nipples pulsed like the lighthouse off Bass Rocks. A wave of liquid need swept through her, cresting and breaking between her thighs.

Oh...oh, please...” Marguerite’s fierce kiss swallowed her moan. A snake-like tongue wriggled into Emmy’s mouth, brazen and seductive. Emmeline yielded, swooning with the heat of that kiss, until needle-sharp teeth nipped the plumpness of her lower lip.

Hey! Aah...” Her yelp became a groan of need as the tiny pain kindled new fires in her hungry pussy.

Ssh. Just relax, love.” That was Beryl’s voice, smooth, hypnotic, matching the delicate brush of fingertips along her shoulders and down her arms. “Let us pleasure you the way you deserve.” Seduced by the redhead’s quiet dominance, Emmeline obeyed. She closed her eyes, letting the rising tide of her own lust drown the last shreds of fear.

In the sweet darkness, every sensation grew more acute. Marguerite deepened the kiss, sucking Emmy’s tongue into her mouth, while Beryl stroked Emmy’s back, belly and thighs. The wandering hands barely touched Emmeline’s body but everywhere they traveled, delicious heat followed.

New Release! The Witches of Gloucester

My F/F fantasy erotic romance The Witches of Gloucester is now available at Amazon and All Romance Ebooks (other stores coming soon). I’m excited because this is my first standalone lesbian title.

Witches is a long short story (about forty pages) that I originally wrote for my F/F collection coming out next month. However, LadyLit thought it would be better to publish it separately. And I never argue with my publisher. ;^)

You’ll find the blurb and an X-rated excerpt below. I’ll have a kiss excerpt and a contest on Sunday.

It’s not about power. It’s about love.

The historic port of Gloucester, Massachusetts has a special charm, due at least in part to its resident witches. For decades, raven-maned Marguerite and red-headed Beryl have lived among its hard-working inhabitants, making magic and mischief. Love and sex fuel their supernatural abilities, but duality limits their power. To reach their full potential, they need a third witch to complete their circle.

Rejected as a nymphomaniac by her puritanical boyfriend, Emmeline escapes to Gloucester to work on her PhD thesis. From the moment she arrives, Marguerite and Beryl sense her erotic vitality and unrecognized paranormal talent. The platinum-haired beauty may well be the enchantress they have been awaiting for so long. Now they need to show Em that her prodigious libido is a gift, not a liability, and to persuade her that her destiny lies in the sea-girt town they guard, and in their arms.

X-rated Excerpt

One lazy Saturday in June, Beryl and Marguerite relaxed in Beryl’s bedroom, which balanced over the water on barnacle-encrusted pilings. Late afternoon sun slanted in through the wide open window. The pungency of the cove at low tide mingled with a hint of primroses from Beryl’s garden. But the mud flats outside were not wholly responsible for the ocean scent hanging in the air.

Beryl licked a salty line across Marguerite’s round belly and up to her dusky breasts. The black-haired woman shivered and threaded her fingers into Beryl’s copper curls, forcing that active mouth onto a nipple. Though they’d been in bed since noon, neither was totally sated. They never were. Inexhaustible libido is one of the defining attributes of a witch.

Marguerite moaned as her partner sucked with vigor at her swollen teat. “Yes, my jewel, that’s lovely. Exactly right...” She didn’t really need to say anything – each knew every nuance of the other’s responses – but she understood how the praise would stir her lover to more energetic attentions. Sure enough, Beryl let her teeth graze the sensitive nub, then nipped hard enough to wake a spike of pain that drove deep into Marguerite’s cunt, transforming itself into the most exquisite pleasure on the way.

Arching her back, she offered more of her breast and Beryl took it, pulling the ripe flesh into her mouth and drenching it in warm saliva. Marguerite bent a knee, aiming her thigh at the Beryl’s juicy cleft. With a choked cry, Beryl ground her crotch against the smooth limb, meanwhile ramping up the suction until Marguerite wondered if she could bear the intensity.

Her face buried in Marguerite’s ample chest, Beryl stabbed her fingers down in a blind search for her lover’s cunt. Through luck or experience, she found her target at first attempt, parting Marguerite’s wiry fur and sinking three digits into luscious wetness.

The rude invasion sent a pre-orgasmic shudder up Marguerite’s spine and wrenched a hoarse cry from her throat. “Oh no you don’t, you minx! You’re going to come for me this time.” Beryl didn’t seem to object; she rocked back and forth against the thigh pressed between hers, struggling for enough friction to push her over the edge. At the same time, she didn’t stop frigging Marguerite, though she let the current nipple pop out of her mouth and captured the other.

It didn’t take long – it never did – before they convulsed in a shared climax. The sun brightened for an instant. The scent of roses grew thick and heady. As their breathing slowed and they fell backwards on the bed to let the air cool their sweat-streaked skin, the wild cry of a gull floated in on the salt-tinged breeze.

Fingertips brushing, they lay together in companionable silence. Marguerite recovered first.

There’s a new girl in town.”

I know.” Beryl stretched her white arms over her head, to their maximum extent, then pulled herself up into a sit, legs crossed Indian style. A rich fragrance of pussy rose from between her parted thighs. “She stopped at the store yesterday, looking for titles about colonial-period Salem.”

I’m sure you were very helpful.” Rolling onto her side and propping her chin up on her palm, Marguerite grinned at her redheaded partner.

I didn’t dare get close. She was broadcasting sexual energy in every direction – pulsing like some hunk of radioactive matter. I swear, I nearly came, standing twenty feet away. Amazing!”

Yes – I’ve been aware of her aura for the last few days. But I haven’t actually seen her.”

Beryl leaned forward for a quick kiss. Marguerite fought the urge to pull that pale, compact body down on top of her own. Not that Beryl would mind, of course. In fact, the little ginger cat took advantage of their closeness to tweak one of Marguerite’s still throbbing nipples, before pulling back.

You’ll appreciate her,” Beryl added. “She’s just your type.”

You mean, loud and bratty, like you?” Marguerite dodged Beryl’s flying fist. “No, seriously – what’s she like?”

Young. Ethereal. Full of light. Wait, I’ll show you.” The witch padded on bare feet over to the wooden sea chest across the room to pull out a length of navy blue cloth printed with yellow-gold stars. She spread it over the braided rug that took up most of the floor. “Come. Sit with me.”

While Marguerite settled herself cross-legged upon the starry throw, Beryl retrieved a half-melted sapphire-blue candle from a shelf above the bed. She arranged it upon the cloth between them, then passed her cupped palm over the charred wick. “Illumine,” she declaimed.

The candle spontaneously ignited. At the same time, the afternoon dimmed. Sudden dusk descended. The blue-edged flame glowed, but did not dispel the gathered shadows.

Look into the fire,” Beryl instructed.

Marguerite tended to use crystals or mirrors for divination. It took a few moments for her to discern the forms moving in the flickering brightness. As she focused her attention, the image grew more distinct.

A diminutive young woman even paler than Beryl sat reading at an old dinette table. Straight silver-blond hair cascaded down her back, almost to her waist. Her black tank top showed off a surprisingly deep cleavage for someone with such a petite frame, while her brief shorts clung to what looked like a heart-shaped ass.

The Setting for Sweet Spot

By Lucy Felthouse (Guest Blogger)

Welcome to my blog tour for my new F/F erotic romance, Sweet Spot! I've got a bookstore gift voucher up for grabs. To enter, use the Rafflecopter link at the end of this post.

Once I decided what I wanted to do for the Hot Pink series from Ellora’s Cave, the setting was the least of my worries. Because I knew I was going to write a book in the Raw Talent sports romance series, and that it would overlap a little with the first book, Grand Slam, then much of the setting was already there. The stadium where the US Open is played in New York City, the fictional Los Carlos Tennis Academy in California... my Grand Slam co-author, Lily Harlem and I had already built that world and so I just had to expand on it.

Not all of the action takes place at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center or Los Carlos, though. But for the most part, the other settings are generic, fictional, and I just let them flow naturally as I wrote. Swanky hotels, apartments... just a backdrop for the angst, action and sexiness going on between the four walls. I already have an idea what I’m going to write about for the next Raw Talent book, though, and setting is definitely going to be a more major player. BDSM club, anyone?

Happy Reading,

Lucy x

Sweet Spot by Lucy Felthouse, a Raw Talent book.

Virginia Miller is an up-and-coming tennis star. She’s gone from a ratty tennis court in a park in south London, England, to the world’s top training facility—Los Carlos Tennis Academy in California. In awe of the talent around her, Virginia is all the more determined to make the most of the opportunity and show that she’s worthy of her place there. Her mentor, Nadia Gorlando, has every faith in her.

But Virginia finds herself distracted—Nadia, as well as being a top-notch tennis player, is seriously sexy, and Virginia’s mind keeps wandering where it shouldn’t. Will her crush get in the way of her career, or can she find a way to push the other woman out of her mind before it’s too late?

Excerpt

Nadia Gorlando and I had just gotten off the exercise bikes in the gym when one of the academy’s coaches, Peter Ross, headed over to us, all smiles.

“Hey, Nadia,” he said, his all-American grin widening and his blond hair flopping down over his forehead, “I need a huge favor.”

I flicked my gaze to Nadia. She raised one of her perfectly shaped eyebrows and waited for him to continue.

He did.

“I totally lost track of time just now and I have an appointment with Travis Connolly. Would you mind wiping down my machine for me? Or maybe stick a note on it saying it’s out of order? I don’t want to leave it all sweaty for someone else. You’ll be doing me a real solid. I’ll owe you.”

My jaw almost hit the floor.

Now Nadia rolled her eyes, looked over at the offending machine, then back at Peter. “Sure, I understand,” she said, as cool as ice. “The world’s number one can’t wait. Go right ahead—I’ll fix it for you.”

He babbled a load of thanks, then jogged out of the gym.

I gaped at her. “You’re not going to do it, are you?”

Nadia chuckled. “Of course not. He may be coaching Travis Connolly and Rufus Lampani for the US Open, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to clean up his mess.” She pointed with her chin over to the machine Peter had just vacated. “Come on, V, I’ll show you how I’m going to deal with this.”

I followed her, grinning. Her tone told me that it was going to be something fun. Well, for us, anyway. Probably not for Peter.

Sure enough, when she returned from the room off the side of the gym, she had a pad of paper and a pen in her hands. Deliberately shielding the pad from my view, she wrote something down, then pulled off the top sheet. Folding it, she then propped it on the sweat-slicked seat so the writing was on view to anyone who happened past.

When I’d read and absorbed the words, I turned to Nadia, impressed. Her smile lit up her face, showing dimples in each cheek, and her brown eyes gleamed with amusement.

It was in that moment that I decided I had the serious hots for Nadia Gorlando.

The sign read,

PLEASE EXCUSE THE STATE OF THIS MACHINE. PETER ROSS, TENNIS COACH SUPREMO, “LOST TRACK OF TIME”.

A Visit from Erzabet

Today I'm delighted to welcome Erzabet Bishop to Beyond Romance. She's here to talk about her new F/F urban fantasy, Sigil Fire I thought I'd start with a few questions.

Lisabet: Greetings and welcome, Erzabet? This looks like a great book - I've been craving some F/F. How did you come up with Sigil Fire?

Erzabet: This story began as a writing prompt that didn’t make it into the anthology it was originally intended for. After much more work, I sent it in to the Ylva Halloween anthology and the amazing and wonderful Astrid believed it could be so much more. What was a nine thousand word story became a nearly thirty thousand word novella.

L: Will there be a sequel?

E: Yes. Charley, Perry, Sonia and Fae will be back for book two, which has already begun.

L: So author interviews always ask this: what's your favorite dessert?

E: Chocolate. Any kind. Anywhere.

L: Do you have a pet?

E: Yes. My husband and I have a pack of furry canine children that constantly keep us on our toes.

L: Favorite place to relax?

E: That would have to be in bed with a good book, my puppy Tadpole by my side.

L: Who are some of your favorite urban fantasy or erotic authors?

E: There are so many! I love Kim Harrison, Lisabet Sarai, Jaye Wells, Red Phoenix, Cari Silverwood, DL King, Alison Tyler, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Rhavensfyre, Patricia Briggs, Laura Antoniou…the list goes on and on. If I could be sealed in a room for a year I would never be bored reading these fabulous authors and more.

L: How could I not adore a woman who lists me among her favorite authors? So what are you working on now?

E: I have several works in progress. I write for the serial, Club Rook and am in the middle of two episodes to finish out the first season. There is also a CYOA for Silkwords, a twisted fairy tale for Decadent and a Halloween tale for my wonderful friends at Ylva. Not to mention the urban fantasy romance I’m up to my knees in for Sci Spanks coming up in a week or so.

L:  Sci Spanks? I've got to hear more!

E: I’m glad you asked! It is a wonderful event for authors and readers to get together around their love of reading erotic literature. Some spanking may be involved, so warm up your paddles! Check out this link to the Facebook page and consider being an ambassador. More prize opportunities and it is as easy as cut and paste.

Thanks for having me on the blog today! I hope to see you around Facebook and hop over to my author site to sign up for the newsletter.

And now a bit about Sigil Fire....

Blurb

Where there’s smoke there’s Hellfire.

Sonia is a succubus with one goal: stay off Hell’s radar. But when succubi start to die, including her sometimes lover, Jeannie, she’s drawn into battle between good and evil.

Fae is a blood witch turned vampire, running a tattoo parlor and trading her craft for blood. She notices that something isn’t right on the streets of her city. The denizens of Hell are restless. With the aid of her nest mate Perry and his partner Charley, she races against time before the next victim falls. The killer has a target in his sights, and Sonia might not live to see the dawn.

Excerpt:

Blood pounded in her temples, and Sonia’s feet hit the pavement. Tears blurred her vision as the reality of what almost happened sunk in. He was the killer, and he knew where she lived. He was a fallen angel.
Turning the corner, she saw the tattoo parlor and picked up her pace. The shadows mocked her from every angle. He would be out there waiting. His oily presence oozed unholy joy at her panic, and she stumbled, almost losing her footing on the uneven sidewalk. Footsteps echoed on the street behind her, and in her panic, she couldn’t distinguish between friend and foe.

The glass doors loomed large, windows covered with posters of the latest trends in piercing and ink.
Pulling maniacally on the door, Sonia let out a howl of frustration to discover it locked. “Son of a bitch! Oh Goddess! Open up!” Tears ran down her face, and she tore at the door, hoping for some weakness that would allow her entry. Something. Anything.

She bit back a sob and staggered backward. It was over. He would find her in moments.
The street had become too quiet and the echo of sinister laughter crept along the edge of darkness. The bastard was playing with her.

Fear shot through Sonia’s body, numb and cold, causing her to yelp as the doors rattled behind her.

The sound of a barking dog came from the interior of the shop.

A voluptuous dark-haired woman leaned out, the bluish light illuminating her features with beams of icy radiance. “If you’re looking for a corner, succubus, you’ve picked the wrong one. Move it along.”
Sonia stepped closer to the door, turning her head into the light. “I’m here to see Fae.” She wrapped her arms around herself, shivering. The T-shirt and jeans had been warm enough earlier, but the air had turned chillier.

“Red?” The woman’s eyes grew wide. She assessed Sonia’s every movement.

Sonia shook her head, tears pricking at the corner of her eyes. “Do you know me?

The barking of a dog sounded closer, and the dark-haired woman drew back as the little body pushed past her.

Sonia leaned down. “What are you doing here?”

The little dog barked furiously, wagging its tail and whining. Its furry little face searched Sonia’s, and it jumped against Sonia’s leg, licking her hand.

“Hey there. Glad to see you made it home.” Sonia reached down at petted dog’s head.

Snorting, the dog rubbed its head against Sonia’s hand, letting out a delighted sound.

“Your dog knows me.” Sonia searched the dark-haired woman’s face. “I saved it. In the alley yesterday. There was a demon trying to take it.”

“Jellybean, what have you been doing?” Fae returned her gaze to Sonia and stared hard. “You saved her? How?”

A frustrated snort came from the dog, and she growled at the shadows.

“You’re lucky that you have a hellhound to watch over you. Someone must have loved you a lot.”

The woman’s face softened. “My mother. Jellybean was the last gift she gave me before she died.”

“Can you please let me in?” Sonia glanced behind her. The shadows grew longer, and the temperature continued to drop. The street was deserted now. “I need to see Fae. Monty sent me.” Sonia hated that her voice shook. She couldn’t help but notice the woman who blocked her path was intoxicating. The stranger’s dark hair rippled in the cold light of the shop, and her tight fitting shirt revealed far more than it chose to conceal. Her eyes burned black in the darkness, and despite her fear, Sonia felt herself falling inside them.
They were safe. Familiar somehow. It didn’t make sense.

“Why the hell would Monty send you here?” The woman straightened, and the illusion of a simple shop owner vanished.

Jellybean barked. The dog’s body tensed, and she stood in front of Sonia, protecting her from the darkness beyond. The energy on the street grew malignant. The dog’s eyes flashed red and power radiated from her.
Sonia and the woman stared, momentarily speechless.

“Well, I’ll be damned. Come on.” The woman grinned as Jellybean jumped up and down. “Get in here.”

Dark laughter echoed down the street and Sonia flinched.

Jellybean growled, the hair on the back of her neck standing straight up.

Sighing deeply, the woman held the door open. “Come on then. Jellybean’s vouching for you and I’ve been looking for you myself.”

“Thank you.” Sonia scurried through the door, tears of relief brimming on her lashes. She blinked, but the tears still managed to fall. She was an immortal. Fear was not something she was used to living with, and it made her angry. Her head and soul were still spinning from everything that had happened in the past hour. She staggered. Her life was about to change even more. She could feel it.

AWOL Inspiration - If Found, Please Return!

By Michaela Rhua (Guest Blogger)

Thank you for having me on your blog Lisabet. I've been having a look around and there are a few books on my TBR list!

Today, the sun is shining and all is well with the world. The Summer holidays are going well, with just over a week to go before we return to school or work. I love this time off, a good few weeks to rest, relax and chill out with friends and family. Life is good, I've just had a new book out (more of that later), yesterday was spent with a bunch of women who I am privileged to call friends and I face a day of chocolates, catch up TV and anything else that I desire to do – the family are away for the day so it's just me!

I love days like this. Okay, so enough of the 'life is fantastic.'

On the other hand – my muse has gone AWOL ! In fact this whole summer, when I have had the time and no day job, no inspiration has hit, nothing, nadda! Why on earth is this? Just when I face an expanse of time ahead of me, when I can write – I find I can't – nothing comes out, no words flow and no character's grab my attention. It is so frustrating! The desire to write is there but not the motivation. Is this something new?

Nope, no sir. This is the usual way for me (big sigh)

However, I can feel something emerging…there are sparks of light ahead, which might illuminate the way ahead. I am getting that itch to write, something is brewing and that fog around the creative side of my brain that I try to use when writing is thinning out. The trouble is, I will be returning to work, and I know I am going to be busy, busy, busy! I wish I was like those fabulous other writers who seem to be able to get down to it (writing! Get your minds out of the gutter) in amongst a multitude of other things. But we are all different and each person has their own way of doing things. I am me…not anyone else so my life won't ebb and flow in the same way as others.

Inspiration strikes when it does and it cannot be ordered or demanded. So what have I learned during my limited time writing…
  • Don't be disappointed that you are not like others – be you.
  • Find your flow and go with it.
  • When your muse had gone AWOL – read, watch films, and just relax.
  • Don't wait, just live life and enjoy the everyday stuff.
That last comment could easily apply to Louisa – Lou as she likes to be called. Life has not been easy; after all being into women in a shifter community is a no-no. Her father was a wise man, who understood life would be harder for her, so built her a small cabin on the edges of the community. Love has not come her way either. Yes, she has had short term relationships, but what she wants is that special person. Lou just gets on with her life and lives in hope that maybe one day everything will fall into place. Then one full moon night she catches a scent and…

Well I will leave you with the blurb and an excerpt.

Mated Forever by Michaela Rhua
The full moon is always a time for danger and mating. This month it brings the scent of Louisa's mate. Jorie is on the run and in grave danger. Being rescued by Louisa brings safety and a new temptation. As the girls act on their feelings, and passion overtakes them, they are unaware of the danger surrounding them both. When Jorie is kidnapped, it's a race against time. Will Louisa be able to save her mate, or will the past and all its secrets destroy them before they even have a chance at forever?

Excerpt
"I am so sorry to draw you into all this Lou, I … I didn't mean for it to get this far." Jorie put down the hot mug on the table next to the sofa.
"It's okay. I asked you to stay, you didn't force this on me, so chill," Lou said. "Anyway, I'm going to take a shower."
Lou got up from the sofa and disappeared into the bedroom.
Damn it! Jorie kicked herself mentally. Why did I not just do what I wanted to, just touch her. She knew exactly how she felt about Lou. She wanted her as a lover and mate. Things were so complicated now. Sleeping with Malachi had been a colossal error. Every time she looked into Lou’s beautiful brown eyes something melted inside.
The noise of the shower interrupted her thoughts. Jorie fisted her hands and gritted her teeth. Then, with decisive steps, she walked through the bedroom to the bathroom. The door was ajar, almost inviting her in. Once inside, the hot steam fogged her vision. Her eyes adjusted quickly, and she made out water cascading over golden brown skin. Rivulets journeyed their way down the perfect body, which was all curves. Jorie wanted to stroke Lou’s round ass, and kiss it all over. She stretched out her hands. Her skin tightened, and heat radiated throughout her body. She knew exactly what was happening. Her wolf begged to be let out to play with her mate.
Breathing deeply, Jorie stepped forward. The steam cleared at little more and Lou turned around. Jorie stared at Lou's round breasts topped off with dark chocolate nipples, and licked her lips. Lou glanced up. Her eyes deepened then a ring of copper formed around her pupils. Lou continued to soap her body. Jorie watched Lou's hand circle down to her bare pussy with the sponge. Her own pussy ached with need. Lou dropped the sponge and leaned her body into the water, washing the suds off her skin. Jorie wanted to touch her so badly.
Lou turned off the water, and stepped out of the shower. Jorie took a deep breath, trying to get her wolf under control. She wanted Lou in human form, to delight in her body. In her wolf form it would be fucking. Her animal instincts would take over like it had with Malachi. There had been little tenderness. When he’d realized she was willing, it became all about taking her quickly. The act had been painful and cold. Where she’d wanted to take it slow, this would be about making love. She wanted to experience love, an all-consuming love. Tender and soft, not hard and fast.
"You're so beautiful, Lou. I want you so much. I've never felt this way before," Jorie whispered.
"I want you, too, Jorie. Only if you’re sure?" Lou gave her a tentative smile.
"Yes, so sure, like never before," Jorie said.
Jorie unbuttoned her shirt. Lou came closer still, helping Jorie to release her arms. Warm hands massaged her breasts. Jorie untwisted Lou's hair and let those dark curls loose. They were silky smooth, and Jorie massaged Lou's head then cupped her face.
Their lips met. Heat surged through Jorie, the air hot and heavy. Lou pushed her toward the bedroom. Jorie delved deeply into Lou's mouth with her tongue, tasting and licking. Her beast growled with delight. This was good, this was right.
"You taste so good, Lou," she said.
Lou pushed her onto the bed then stood over her. A flicker of hesitation registered in her eyes. Jorie undid her jeans, ridding herself of any clothing to reassure Lou this was what she wanted. Words were irrelevant. Lou seemed like watching her strip because intensity deepened her gaze. Once bare, Jorie sat up and held out her hand. Nothing happened. Lou looked at the offered hand. Afraid Lou would back away, Jorie slowly opened her legs. She wasn’t fully bare as Lou, but she hoped Lou would understand.
"I can't wait, Jorie, I have to taste you." Lou licked her lips.
She watched Lou lower her head and inhale the scent of her arousal. Lou growled then pounced on her.
"Get ready, honey." Lou winked.
