Blurb
A tragically attractive vampire, a hunky wolf-man and a skeptical but susceptible career gal. What could possibly go wrong?
Bianca Sorenson understands obsession. Her phenomenally successful Vamp magazine feeds the popular fascination with the undead. The city is full of fanatics who want to believe vampires are real. Bianca knows that’s a fantasy. Then a blond, blue-eyed blood drinker walks into her office looking for a model’s job and turns her universe upside down. Jim Bush hasn’t been a vampire for long, but his terrible history and seductive hunger undermine Bianca’s single-minded ambition and her cherished self-control.
Trying to escape from Jim’s disturbing influence, she collides with a shaggy giant of a man whose mere presence inspires irresistible lust. When Zack Kane reveals that he’s a wolf shifter and claims Bianca as his mate, she finds herself on the horns of a supernatural dilemma. How can she resolve her feelings for her two mutually hostile lovers while defusing a city-wide conflict between the vampire clique and the werewolf pack?

The Hook
Bianca strode north along 6th Avenue at her usual brisk pace. There was no sign of the blond vampire on the crowded sidewalk. Of course, someone like him, ultra-normal in his looks and style, would blend easily into the mass of homeward-bound New Yorkers. In any case, he’d already shown her how rapidly he could move. He might be blocks, even miles away by now.
The whole incident had left her deeply unsettled. Was it all a hoax? Had she allowed her imagination to get the better of her? Vampires did not exist. Yet the barely perceptible throb of her wounded wrist as well as the more pronounced pulsing in her clit testified to Jim’s reality.
God, she wanted him! Forget about the vampire stuff—she just wanted his mouth on hers again, his hands cupping her breasts, his cock buried between her thighs. Arousal buzzed through her entire body. She sweated under her heavy cape, despite the dank harbor breeze that swept the streets. The drenched crotch of her tights clung to her skin, an uncomfortable reminder of her horniness. Her nipples felt tight enough to shatter at a touch. If she didn’t get home to her vibrator soon, she’d explode.
Hoping against hope, she continued to scan the crowd as she hurried toward the subway. Meanwhile her mind replayed the scene in her office, as if by recreating the bizarre and thrilling experience she might come to understand it.
Wait a minute—that guy in the tan-colored coat, across the street, half a block ahead—could it be…?
“Umph!”
Something—someone—slammed into her chest, driving the air from her lungs. She stumbled, tripped on a high heel, and collapsed backward. Her butt landed hard on the pavement, the force rattling her bones. Instinctively, she extended her hands behind her to break the fall. Rough concrete tore at her palms. Dazed and trying to catch her breath, she sat there on the cold sidewalk for a full minute before she looked up.
A figure loomed over her, a mountain of a man with shaggy dark hair and a beard that partially hid his face. Despite the chilly evening, he was in shirtsleeves. He lowered himself to his haunches to peer at her, almost as though he’d never seen a woman before.
“You okay?”
“I—I think so.” She sat up and flexed her lacerated hands, wincing at the sting. “I’m sure my rear end will be black and blue tomorrow. You should watch where you’re going.”
“I could say the same about you, lady.” Rising to his feet with a grace that belied his bulk, he extended a massive paw. “Here. Can you stand?”
“Um—ow!—I guess.” Taking hold of his proffered hand, Bianca tucked her knees to one side, then tried to get up. “Oh damn!” she exclaimed as her right boot skidded out from under her. “My heel’s broken.”
The man caught her by the arm before she hit the ground again. “You’re lucky it wasn’t your leg.” He stabilized her while she bent to retrieve her shoulder bag and brushed the dirt from her clothing. “You’re bleeding,” he added. “Need to disinfect those scrapes. C’mon.”
“No, that’s all right. I’ve got to get home.” Even as she protested, she realized that between her bruises and her missing heel, she could barely walk.
The stranger swung his right arm around her waist. She leaned against his side, grateful for the support. He used his left hand to grab a bulky sack he’d obviously been carrying when they’d collided. He flung that over his other shoulder, as though it weighed nothing.
“My shop’s close. Over on Christopher. I’ve got betadine and bandages.” Without waiting for her acquiescence, he headed in that direction, forcing her to limp along beside him.
“Wait! Please! Just get me a cab. I appreciate your help, but really, I can manage on my own…”
He ignored her. She might as well have been talking to the brick wall he felt like when she’d smashed into him.
