MFRW Book Hooks: Rough Weather -- #MFRWHooks #MFRWAuthor #ParanormalRomance

Rough Weather cover

Welcome to this week’s Book Hooks blog hop. My hook today is from my paranormal romance Rough Weather. I love this book, partly because it’s set in Martha’s Vineyard – one of my favorite places in the world.

Enjoy!

Destiny hides in the tempest’s heart

Ondine has always felt at home in the sea. Orphaned at birth and raised by her grandmother on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, she has never really questioned her extraordinary affinity for the watery world. She concentrates on her work as a marine biologist, spends her weekends relaxing among the waves and worries about human threats to her beloved ocean environment. Fears of a deadly pregnancy like her mother’s make her cautious about sex.

When she encounters an attractive but arrogant engineer on her private beach, surveying the site for a prospective off-shore wind farm, anger is her first reaction. A casual touch, however, transforms that emotion to incomprehensible, irresistible, terrifying lust.

Ebony-skinned Marut has his own talents—aside from his uncanny ability to swamp Ondine with desire. He can control the winds and summon storms. He informs Ondine that they share a supernatural heritage and claims she is his destined mate. She responds with scepticism and tries to resist the charismatic Haitian, but ultimately her scientist’s training won’t permit her to deny the evidence of her senses—and her heart. As a brutal northeaster batters the island and Marut’s life hangs in the balance, Ondine learns that true power lies in surrender to her elemental nature.

The Hook

A high-pitched whine drew her attention to the tumbled boulders that marked the eastern extent of the beach. Atop the pile of rock crouched a dark-skinned man, boring into the surface with some kind of drill.

Hey! What are you doing?” Ondine strode towards the interloper, still holding her discarded clothing. “That noise—you’ll disturb the fish!” She halted on the sand below his perch, one hand shielding her eyes from the glare. “Stop that this instant!”

The stranger raised his head and fixed her with eyes like polished jet, set in a proud face almost as black. A cloud of wiry hair haloed his skull. He flipped a switch and the irritating noise died. His full lips parted in a confident smile, revealing even, pearly teeth. He rose to his full height—at least six feet, she guessed, though her position made him look even taller—and gazed down at her.

Self-consciousness blasted through her as she suddenly remembered she was naked. Hot blood raced to her face while her nipples tightened into ruddy peaks, and an echo of her recent climax shimmered in her still-damp pussy.

The stranger looked distinctly amused, as though he sensed the physical effects his presence triggered. There was something else, too, an unnerving sense of familiarity, although Ondine was certain she’d never met this man before.

She squared her shoulders, ignoring her embarrassment as best she could. She wasn’t ashamed of her body—far from it. “You can’t drill here. Tide pool habitats are very sensitive. The vibrations could kill crustacean larvae, for a start, and confuse organisms that rely on echolocation…”

The black man’s grin grew broader. He scanned her nude figure with deliberate and obvious interest before he answered. Ondine’s nipples ached under his scrutiny, even as her blood boiled at his brazen attitude.

I have a permit.” His voice had an unexpected softness, with a faint hint of the Caribbean. He rifled in the pocket of his tight jeans and pulled out a sheet of paper, which he offered her. “Mass DEP. Go ahead and check. I think you’ll find it’s all in order.”

The sun beat down, hotter than ever. Sweat gathered under her arms and at the back of her neck. Ignoring the proffered permit, she planted her fists on her hips and summoned every ounce of authority she could muster.

This beach is private, reserved for Katama residents. What’s your business here?”

Stuffing the permit back into his pants, he sank into a crouch to pick up a piece of equipment that he’d propped against a rock, next to a two-meter steel pole. His thigh muscles flexed against taut denim as he rose. His white T-shirt emphasised his ebony skin, sculpted pectorals and massive biceps—her mouth felt dry and her pussy, wet. “I’m installing a temporary meteo-hydrographic monitoring station.” The device bristled with lenses, buttons and dials, the pinwheel of an anemometer, and the tongue-like extrusion of a rain gauge. “Come on up. Take a look.”

Just a minute.” She stepped into her shorts, then pulled her shirt over her head, trying to ignore the sensation of fleece brushing across her naked breasts. In her bare feet, she clambered up over the knobby, rust-coloured stone until she stood beside him. He towered over her. She caught a whiff of sandalwood and coconut oil and was washed by sudden desire.

He pointed to a white plastic rectangle. “This is the hygrometer, the humidity sensor.”

Yes, yes, I understand. You’ve got a laser ceilometer for cloud height, I see, and an infrared camera for thermal imaging…”

What…?”

She found his surprise gratifying, as he realised she wasn’t just a naked, blonde beach bunny.

The Hook

Wind is far less destructive than fossil fuels. You know that.”

The stranger cupped his tea mug in his big hands. Marut, he called himself. His handsome face wore an earnest expression, while his body was wrapped in her old terrycloth robe, the one she planned to donate to Goodwill. Meanwhile, Ondine herself wore a loose T-shirt and sweatpants that effectively hid her curves. No sense tempting fate.

She hadn’t intended to bring him here, but his clothing was soaked and, like her, he had bloody abrasions on his hands and knees from their fierce encounter on the rocks. So she’d led him over the dunes—careful not to touch him—to the weathered clapboard house she’d inherited from her grandmother. After giving him antiseptic and Band Aids, she’d left him alone in the downstairs bathroom to clean himself up and tend to his wounds. She certainly didn’t intend to play nurse to him, that was certain. She had no idea what had possessed her out on the beach, but she didn’t want to experience it again.

Not that it hadn’t felt wondrous. Indeed, every time she looked at him, she recalled the overwhelming hunger that had seized her and the intense sensations of their frantic coupling. The pleasure had been incredible. The loss of control, though, had been terrifying.

Charity Sunday Snog: For Haiti (#pnr #giveaway #charity)

Map of Haiti

These days it seems like the world faces one disaster after another. Feels like only a few weeks ago that I ran a charity snog for survivors of the Italian earthquake. Now my news feeds are full of desperate images from Haiti in the wake of Hurricane Matthew. Over 900 people killed at last count. Reportedly 90% of settlements in the south of the country destroyed. The impoverished country still hasn’t recovered from the earthquake in 2010. Matthew’s devastation is a double whammy.

I can’t just sit here comfortably and do nothing. So today’s kiss is dedicated to the long-suffering folk of Haiti. I’ve never shared this excerpt before. It’s from my paranormal erotic romance Rough Weather especially appropriate since the hero Marut is Haitian, and is lord of the air.

For every comment left on this blog post, I will donate one dollar to the hurricane relief fund at Oxfam America. You can donate, too:

Also, I will give away a copy of Rough Weather to one randomly selected commenter, so please include your email address.

Read. Comment. Share this post with your friends. Do what you can to help.

(And don’t forget to visit Victoria Blisse, who has more sexy Sunday kisses on offer!)

Thank you!

She fought the wind along every inch of the path through the dunes. Crouching low, leaning forward to offset its force, she battled against fierce gusts that threatened to sweep her from her feet and dash her to the sand.

The intermittent showers had become a chill downpour. She paused to catch her breath, peering through the grey curtain that obscured her view of the sea ahead, and sent her mind questing for another trace of Marut. Thunder crashed around her. Otherwise, there was no answer. Dread tightened into an aching knot in her chest as the rain beat down upon her nakedness and plastered her hair to her head.

The rain is hers, the sweet springs and the salty billows, all of the watery world.

Although usually she loved the rain, now it was just another obstacle keeping her from her lover. Enough. As soon as she issued the silent command, the precipitation slackened to a drizzle, though the wind continued its relentless assault. She had no time to wonder at this. Ahead, massive breakers rolled onto the beach, up to the very foot of the dunes. The rocks where she’d first seen Marut were half-submerged in a roiling whirlpool flecked with ivory foam.

Stepping into the seething ocean, she felt the current tug at her ankles and draw her deeper. A sheer wall of water loomed over her, gleaming like polished black glass. She dived into the wave before it could swallow her, kicking hard to send herself into calmer waters closer to the bottom.

Even her preternaturally acute vision could discern few details in the murk below the surface. Still, she had no doubt she was headed in the correct direction, towards the westernmost extremity of the island, some twenty-five miles away. A sense of Marut’s presence drew her like a radio beacon. With her mind on her lover, she allowed instinct to control her body. Power rippled along her spine, propelling her through the depths, faster than she’d ever swum before. The water offered no resistance. Ondine gave herself up to her element, leaving a bubbling wake as she raced towards her lover’s call.

She broke the surface finally, after an endless transit that might have taken minutes or hours, and filled her lungs with ozone-scented air. Crests of wind-whipped water hid the horizon, but alternating red and white flashes from the Aquinnah lighthouse confirmed that she’d reached her destination.

There was no sign of her lover.

Marut? Marut!” The gale drowned her cries.

Useless to call out.Ondine focused inward, summoning an image of her mate.

Marut. Beloved, where are you?

The drone of an engine reached her ears. She gazed at the racing clouds above her.

The pitch of the engine noise rose higher and higher to a keen of tortured metal. Then silence. Seconds later, a small plane ripped through the clouds and plummeted downwards, clearly out of control.

Marut!” Her throat was raw with screaming. Wind-driven water washed over her head. Blinking the salt from her eyes, she followed the plane’s deadly trajectory, trying to determine where it would land.

As she watched in horror, one wing tore way and tumbled into the sea. Unbalanced by the loss, the plane turned jerky somersaults. Fierce gusts tossed the aircraft to and fro like some weightless bauble. She kicked hard to raise her head above the waves and caught a glimpse of the red clay cliffs to her right. Please, she prayed to some unknown power, keep him away from the coast.

As if in answer to her entreaty, the damaged craft veered to the left, caught in some random blast of air, then hurtled down into the ocean.

The minor tsunami that followed the impact sent her diving again. She surfaced next to the wreckage of Marut’s Cessna, which floated on its side, its remaining wing pointing into the water like a rudder. Ondine wrenched the door open. Seawater poured into the compartment.

Marut lay crumpled over the controls, battered and bleeding. Physical pain shot through her at the sight, paralysing her for a long moment. But there was no time to waste. It took every ounce of her strength to drag him from his seat and away from the plane, which began to sink as the sea filled the cabin.

Ondine clutched his inert body against her side with her right arm while paddling with her left, working to keep his head out of the water. Although his eyes were closed and a ragged, bloody gash marred his forehead, he was definitely breathing. A wave swamped them both. Marut sputtered and gasped without regaining consciousness.

I’ve got to get him to shore. How could she, though, without him drowning in the storm-churned swells?

All of the watery world. The truth was a sudden bright light scattering the darkness in her heart. Still clasping her lover to her breast, she let her thoughts spread out across the heaving billows.

Be still.

The winds of the northeaster still howled around them, but the surging ocean calmed, bit by bit. Gentle undulations rocked their bodies. She rolled Marut onto his back, her arm across his chest, and prepared to tow him to land.

Uh—uch!” Racked by a fit of violent coughing, he sank beneath the surface for an instant. She hauled him up into the air and he twisted in her grasp, struggling to see her face. “Ah…uch…Ondine? Oh, thanks be to the loas! You’re here!”

Don’t move! You’re injured, maybe badly…” She tried to flip him into a back float once more, but he squirmed like a snake in her arms.

The storm…the plane… I had to get home to you…”

Hush! Save your strength…let me…”

The wind snatched the words from her lips. Leaving the water behind, she rose on a pillar of air, cradled in Marut’s arms. He murmured endearments as they flew higher, covering her face with kisses. The gale swirling around them stole his words too, but she felt every one.

Now they were among the clouds, enmeshed in darkness with lightning crackling around them. Electric currents rippled through her flesh, awakening her senses. Marut’s eyes glowed with inner fire. He released her in order to tear off his tattered clothing, yet still the winds bore her up as steady as the waves below. Exhilaration and joy drove out any hint of fear. In perfect trust, Ondine surrendered to the prince of air.

Don't forget to leave a comment. I'll donate a dollar for every one. And you could win a copy of Rough Weather, too!

Sunday Snog 242: Rough Weather (#pnr #sundaysnog #interracial)

(Giveaway alert! See the end of the post for details...)

It’s Sunday again already. Well, I’m up for it!

My Snog today comes from my paranormal erotic romance Rough Weather. It illustrates one of the things I adore about writing paranormal stories, the phenomenon I call “magical lust”. When two characters are destined for one another, by their complementary powers or other supernatural forces, they can experience an irresistible mutual attraction even though they’re strangers. In a realistic tale, the excerpt below might seem implausible, but in a paranormal book, I can take greater liberties with what’s believable.

When you’re done with my snog, I hope you’ll head back to Victoria’sSunday Snog home page, for more sexy kisses.

Destiny hides in the tempest’s heart

What…?”

She found his surprise gratifying, as he realised she wasn’t just a naked, blonde beach bunny.

I’m a marine biologist. We use similar devices in my lab at Woods Hole. But Vineyard Airport has a full suite of weather instrumentation. Why are you installing this system here?”

I’m working on the design for an offshore wind farm.”

Wind mills?” Her indignation returned, blasting through her with hurricane fury. “Those spell death for sea birds!”

We’re doing research—”

And the awful, endless hum disorients cetaceans. They swim in circles until they starve to death!” She snatched the apparatus and held it above her head, threatening to smash it upon the rocks.

Don’t! Please!” Seizing both her wrists in one massive hand, he pried the delicate gadget from her clutches with the other.

She did not fight him. When he touched her, her anger fled as quickly as it had arisen, to be replaced by irresistible, irrational lust. Her pussy gushed and her clit pulsed between her thighs. Electricity zipped along her limbs. Her modest breasts felt huge and heavy, aching for contact.

The stranger’s eyes grew wide. Sweat beaded on his forehead. She dropped her gaze to his crotch. A visible bulk distended the fabric there, evidence that he shared her reactions.

Without releasing her, he placed the weather station upon an outcrop, then dragged her into a rough embrace. Their lips mashed together as they grappled, tearing at one another’s clothing in a desperate quest for bare skin. The rusty taste of blood flooded her mouth. She’d bitten her own lip in her hunger for him. His flavour was spicy with a burnt edge, like an autumn breeze. His brazen tongue mirrored the frantic dance of his hands on her flesh.

She wormed her hands into his trousers so she could grip the smooth, solid curve of his buttocks. The muscles tightened and shifted under her palms as he ground his hardness against her. Her shorts hung loose on her hips. He dragged them down to her knees and plunged his fingers into her drenched cunt, smothering her moan of delight with another fierce kiss.

Back List Blast: Rough Weather (#bdsm #paranormal #eroticromance)

“I want to bind you.” Marut brandished a pale coil of rope Ondine had never seen before. He had stripped her of her clothes, settled her on her back on top of the quilt and told her to remain still. Simultaneously pliant and eager, she awaited his next move.

Standing naked at the foot of the bed, he reminded her of some Nubian Hercules. Candlelight made flickering patterns on the sculpted ebony of his chest and danced along the length of his massively erect cock. The luscious sight temporarily distracted Ondine from his words. Saliva flooded her mouth as she remembered his hot seed spilling through her fingers. How she wanted to taste him!

“Do I have your permission, pitit?” He trailed one end of the cord between her breasts and down her belly, making her shiver with delight. She struggled to remain still as he had instructed. “It will strengthen the connection between us, if you trust me enough to render you helpless.”

How could the bond be any stronger? Already her awareness was attuned to his, registering both his excitement and his doubts. One part of her was more than willing to accede to his request. Another cringed at the notion, near-panicked at the notion of so completely relinquishing control of her body.

He dangled the rope-end between her spread thighs and drew it upward to lightly brush her pubic curls. Electric pleasure arced down to her core. Her hungry pussy clamped down on empty space. “Do it,” she gasped, as he flipped the rope back and forth across her mound, grazing her clit. The panic fled, drowned in sensation. “Oh, please, Marut...!”

Her companion chuckled. His strong fingers clamped around her wrists and drew them over her head. Lust surged whenever, wherever he touched her. Faint echoes of fear returned with the first loop of rope around her crossed hands, but the purse of his firm lips upon her nipple banished her last reservations.

She had been swimming in the dream, far from land, slicing through the sea with the speed of a shark, the grace of a dolphin, acutely aware of the burgeoning life around her, glorying in her freedom. The space below the surface had glowed like the interior of an emerald, lit by the sun above. Arousal hummed through her, wellbeing shading into something like need, but not urgent, not yet—merely a side effect of her finely tuned perception. She would let the ache build, gathering force and volume, until the flood of release was as inevitable as the tide.

Shadows had gathered overhead. The pellucid depths turned grey. Choppy swells churned above. Then with terrifying suddenness she’d been hooked—arrested in her liquid trajectory, dragged up into the air, sputtering and thrashing like the fish she sometimes resembled.

She had found herself suspended in lightning-shot blackness, hung by some pivot between her shoulder blades. Fierce winds swung her back and forth, whipping her hair into her face. Anger and terror warred in her chest.

Release me!” she’d cried. The gale had ripped the words from her and flung them into the skies. “Let me go, whoever you…”

Firm lips had sealed hers before she could finish. Invisible in the swirling dark, someone took possession of her mouth, forcing it open with an unseen tongue and plunging within. She’d tasted winter frost and summer fruit, salt and iron, a hint of smoke. Hands wandered over her bare flesh, cool and knowing. A rough twist to an aching nipple. The scrape of a fingernail down her spine. A plump thumb prodded her quivering clit. Then a rigid bulk rooted itself in the slick cleft between her thighs.

She’d been soaked, despite her fear and indignation. She liquefied further as her shadow-clad assailant slid into her depths. Her simmering lust leapt to a boil. “Please, no…” she’d moaned into his demanding mouth, even as she clenched around the exquisite hardness invading her. A storm of sensation raged inside her as he arched up and inward, dragging the taut length of his cock across her clitoris. Electric bliss flashed from her core to her extremities.

He’d pulled her to his chest, mashing her breasts against smooth planes of skin and muscle. The arms restraining her were iron bands, inescapable despite her squirming. Wild winds coiled around them in a tightening spiral. She fought the pleasure, unwilling to be taken by a stranger, to have her freedom stripped from her so completely, but he was inexorable, driving closer to her crisis with each powerful thrust.

Surrender to me.” His voice pierced her as surely as his cock, straight to the core. Melodious, gentle, it coaxed her to relinquish control. His soft words were not a command but an invitation. “You will never be complete until you surrender.”

He drank deeply, swallowing half the contents of his glass. Ondine half-drained hers then refilled them both.

His eyes glittered in the dimness. She’d skipped the fluorescent fixture overhead, contenting herself with the weaker light above the sink. Power radiated from his muscular form. It beat against her in palpable waves, lowering her resistance. She imagined him dashing the table to splinters, tearing her clothes from her limbs and trapping her with the irresistible strength of those dark arms. She saw them rising together into the sky, his mouth glued to hers and his cock lodged in her pussy. The wind wailed around them, as it had in her dream, while he plunged deeper, ever deeper…

She closed her eyes for a moment, overwhelmed by the visions. They faded as she focused her attention on the flow of her breath and the tap of raindrops against the window.

Is something wrong, pitit?”

In his broad-featured face, she read friendly concern and unrelenting desire. She swallowed the remainder of her wine and shook her head. A delightful warmth flowed from her chest to her extremities. Despite her wariness, she realised that she was enjoying Marut’s company.

No…um…just a hint of dizziness. I’m okay now. So you…um…you can fly?”

Marut chuckled. “Actually, I have a pilot’s license. My Cessna’s parked at the airport. But yes. Sometimes, especially when I’m in the grip of strong emotion, the air will carry me where I want to go.”

And what other powers do you have?”

I can call storms—or calm them. Create a local whirlwind. Gather clouds and trigger lightning bolts…”

Seems that clouds should be my responsibility, don’t you think? Since they’re water vapour and all.” Ondine giggled, then blushed at her silliness. Her intoxication was due at least as much to his presence as to the wine. She wanted him. She couldn’t deny it. She was dying to touch him again, to have him touch her. How long would he keep her waiting?

I have no idea what determines the limits of my abilities or yours. But I’m certain, from what Mambo Marie taught me and from my own studies, that we’re far more powerful together than on our own.”

You’ve said that before.” She rose, a bit unsteady on her feet, and circled to his side of the table. “But how do you know?” His closeness made her ache with need. Did she dare take the next step? Could she bear more of that awful intensity that had seized them that morning?

Marut pushed his chair back so that he was standing as well, but he still refrained from any physical contact. Far taller than she was, he towered over her, so that she felt small and vulnerable. His sleek, dark skin gleamed like polished jet. A musky fragrance surrounded him, laced with hints of frangipani and ozone. Lust knotted her nipples and flooded her sex.

Don’t play with me, Ondine.” His voice was serious, even solemn. “You know it too. You’re drawn to me, inevitably and irresistibly. Since time began, we’ve been destined mates.”

He reached for her and she leaned in towards his questing fingers, but he aborted the gesture before they reached her skin. Instead, he tugged at his own wild hair. “I’ll keep my promise, though. I won’t touch you until you ask.”

Desire swelled in her, rising until the dam broke. “Please, Marut!” She flung herself against him, desperate now, and unashamed. Power sizzled through her at the first brush of flesh on flesh. “Take me. Show me who you are. Who we are.”

His lips were silken-smooth upon her own. “Most gladly, pitit.” Gathering her into his arms, he lifted her as though she were light as thistledown and headed for the stairs to the second floor. “But you must trust me completely.”

Overwhelmed by sensation, astonished by his strength, she could barely manage a whisper of assent.

The History of Rough Weather

Today is release day for my new paranormal novella Rough Weather over at Totally Bound. This book is actually a sort of prequel for my novella Hot Spell, which was published way back in 2011.

Hot Spell tells the story of Sylvie, a loner drawn to the forests but forced into an urban existence for the sake of her career, and Aidan, a man hiding from the world and struggling with a terrible secret.

As the city sizzles in the grip of an unseasonable heat wave, Sylvie flees east to the pine-shrouded mountains. She doesn't mind being alone in the wilderness, but she's not the only being haunting the glades and the trails. Antisocial fire warden Aidan is fiercely attracted to the voluptuous beauty he finds sun bathing nude in a high meadow, but he must resist his overwhelming desire for the sake of her safety. The sun-bronzed man with the red-gold hair is cursed with power he knows will destroy her if they give full rein to their passion.

Of course, given that this is erotic romance, they do eventually succumb to their mutual attraction, kindling a literal conflagration that consumes everything around them.

When I began writing Hot Spell, I was pretty sure how it would end - with Sylvie coming to understand her own power, the counterpoint to Aidan's. However, much to my surprise, during the last few pages, two new characters showed up. I really didn't expect this at all, but as they walked onto the scene, I realized they'd need their own story someday.

That day didn't come for quite a while. Back in early 2012, I ran a contest for my readers. The prize was a custom story, written based on the winner's specifications. My winner, long time fan Juliana, had read Hot Spell. She suggested I tell the tale of Ondine and Marut, and asked that I throw in some BDSM, too.

I was happy to oblige.

Anyway, to celebrate the release of Rough Weather (which has been a long time coming - it was accepted in mid-2012!), I thought I'd share part of the ending from Hot Spell, where Ondine and Marut first burst from my imagination onto the page. Furthermore, I'm giving away a copy of Hot Spell to one person who leaves a comment. What I want to know is, should I write a third story in this universe, a polyamorous tale featuring all four of the Elementals? That's clearly suggested by the snippet below. Would you like to read more?

“That tickles!” she protested.

“What?” Aidan probed deeper into her sex. “This?”

“No, no—what you’re doing to my ass…”

“But I’m not doing anything…”

Another delicate touch, climbing up her hip. Sylvie opened her eyes and gasped in wonder.

A strand of some vine coiled up from behind her, brilliant green against her sooty skin. As she watched, it slithered across her flesh, sending out new shoots, bursting into clusters of emerald leaves as it travelled along her limbs. It twined around her hips, sending runners into the thicket of her sex, cascading down her belly to encircle the pillar of Aidan’s cock. Moment by moment, the delicate strands crept over their flesh, binding them together in fragile, living chains.

“What the heck…?” Aidan looked alarmed.

“It’s all right,” said Sylvie, wonder in her voice. “They won’t hurt us. Look! It’s happening everywhere.”

Indeed, the crawlers were sprouting from the soil all over the clearing, turning the blackened ground green once more. The strands wound their way around the charred remains of the trees, spiralling to the tops to explode into verdant foliage.

The light grew as sunrise neared. The rain stopped. The mist glowed around them, as though they were in the heart of an emerald.

“The earth. She’s healing herself.” Sylvie felt a deep sense of reverence.

“No,” Aidan replied, sitting up to survey the marvels around them. “I think it’s you. You’re healing the earth.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Remember what I told you? About Elementals? Not just fire? I believe that you’re an Earth Elemental, Sylvie. You can control the earth and summon growing things.”

“That’s crazy!” Sylvie shook her head. “It can’t be.”

“But it would explain so much, my love.” He grasped her hands, sending the usual thrill up her spine. “That’s why our coupling didn’t kill you. You’ve got powers, as I do. Powers you’re not aware of.”

Sylvie suddenly remembered the landslide—the peace that had come over her and then the peculiar way the earth had simply stopped moving. Had she done that?

“I’ve watched you, moving through the forest. You’re at home in nature, in a way that I’ve never seen in another woman. You belong in the forest, in the fields, on the mountaintops. I’ll bet that you hate living in the city.”

“You’re right. It’s torture. I can hardly stand it. But an Elemental? Some kind of god? What would it mean?”

“For one thing, it means the two of you can be lovers—mates.” The voice was low and musical, like a river laughing over polished stone. Aidan and Sylvie turned to see two figures emerging from the mist.

One was female, tall and willow-slender, with a complexion like moonlight and silvery hair that fell to below her waist in a shimmering cascade. The other was male, stocky and powerful, with skin like ebony and a wild, wiry, inky cloud haloing his skull. Both were naked. Both shone with an unearthly beauty.

“I am Ondine,” said the woman, answering Sylvie’s unspoken question. “And this is Marut. We were called by your coupling.”

“You’re Elementals, too.” Aidan rose, brushing off the twining lianas, and helped Sylvie to her feet. There was no question in his voice.

“Of water and air,” said Marut, stretching out his arms. A warm wind rustled the new foliage cloaking the burned-out clearing. Sylvie felt a stir of lust, mingling with her wonder. Her guilt didn’t quite manage to suppress her desire.

“We’ve been waiting for you—to complete the square, the four-way connection. Without all four elements, the world is unbalanced.” Ondine twirled on her toes, her fingers rippling, and the new leaves shed raindrops on them all. She held out her hand to Aidan. “Come, my lord of fire.”

Her lover took a step forward. A stab of jealousy made Sylvie reel. His penis was rock hard.

“Fear not, earth lady.” Marut’s voice rumbled like thunder. He stroked her bare shoulder. Her sex fluttered in some invisible breeze. “No one is going to steal your mate. He is yours, as Ondine is mine.”

Sunday Snog #109: Rough Weather

Happy Snog Day! To celebrate the fact that Rough Weather's now available for pre-order (here!), I've got a quick excerpt from the tale for you.

After you've read my snog, hop on back to Victoria's Sunday Snog page for lots more delicious kisses!

In the glimmering dawn, they lay entwined, breathing in synchrony. His mouth moulded to hers, his tongue languorous and sweet. Cradling her in his power, he wrapped his arms around her torso and hooked her lower body with one strong leg to pull her against him. His new erection nestled in the hollow between her thighs, slick with the juices of their many couplings.

She buried her fingers in his wiry hair and relaxed into his embrace. Although her cunt felt raw after the night’s unrelenting passion, she craved him still, with an ache that was more than physical. Until they were conjoined, she would not be whole.
He held her so tightly that Ondine could scarcely move, but now there was no fear in her, only a giddy mix of comfort and desire. His wild, storm-edged scent eddied around her. She reached behind him to cup his buttocks and felt them flex. With a tiny jerk of his hips, he nudged her labia open, his cockhead settling just outside her channel. More liquid flowed from her to ease his way into her depths.

Ah…” She sighed into his warm mouth as his now-familiar bulk stretched and filled her once more. Digging her fingers into his ass, clutching his cock with her inner muscles, she struggled to pull him deeper. She wanted—no, she needed—every last centimetre of his luscious hardness. Taking control of the kiss, she drank him in. She wanted to swallow him, with her mouth and with her pussy.

Ondine, my love…” The tenderness in his voice belied the ferocity of his thrusts. Her abraded tissues stung and burned each time his cock pierced her, but somehow those sensations morphed into the most exquisite pleasure she’d ever known.
He’d untied her after that first incandescent union, cuddled and caressed her, murmuring endearments and thanks. His eyes gleamed in the flickering candlelight. Like her own, they brimmed with tears. The intensity of their initial connection had drained them both, yet before long they’d merged their bodies again, unable to resist the forces that drew them to each another.
Climax became easier each time. Opening her mind and surrendering her body felt so natural, so right, as easy as breathing. The dizzying loss of control thrilled rather than frightened her now. As she let go and allowed Marut to take her to the edge and beyond one more time, she knew he would keep her safe.

It’s practically morning. We need to sleep,” he whispered afterward, burrowing against her neck to pepper her with kisses. As though it had a mind of its own, his hand cupped and massaged her breast, striking sparks from her still-taut nipple.

You’re right.” She reached between his legs to fondle his relaxed cock. It twitched and jumped like an eager puppy in response to her touch, stiffening despite Marut’s recent climax.

So why won’t you let me be?” He licked a path across her cheek then planted a quick kiss on her lips. “Aren’t you tired?”

Totally exhausted.” She slipped from his loose embrace and lowered herself until she was even with his half-rigid member. “But I haven’t tasted you yet.” Her own secretions flavoured his flesh, salt and seaweed mixed with the musk of his skin and bitterness of his cum. A new current of lust coursed through her as he swelled to full hardness in her mouth. Just once more, she promised herself. Then we can sleep.
