A Christmas wish to light up March! #SecretBaby #RockstarRomance #KindleUnlimited @AuthorHEA

Christmas Melody cover

I’ve got Heather E. Andrews back at Beyond Romance today – the romance author whose initials are HEA!

Q: What inspired you to start writing?

Writing has always been what I knew I was meant to do after I got over my initial fireman phase. I don’t remember it being excitement over telling stories that drove me as much as an obsession with books. Before I was telling stories, I was reading everything I could get my hands on.

Q: What themes do you explore in your books?

I’m compelled by characters overcoming emotional adversity. Women with body image issues. Men who feel inferior. People who lash out and get angry instead of being open to feeling their emotions. The emotional drama associated with overcoming internal struggles is compelling.

Q: Where did the inspiration for Christmas Melody come from, and what journey led you to write it?

Christmas Melody was originally published in the Jingle My Snowballs Anthology. The group of women I work with, the Peenerpuff Girls, decided to create an anthology for the holiday season. When we floated the idea, I immediately thought of Billy, the bass player from Scarred Melody. At the time, the Bold Melodies series wasn’t fully thought out, but I wanted so badly to write something for Billy.

Q: What are you working on now?

I’m finishing up Bright Melody, the second book in my Bold Melodies Series. Travis White, whose face you catch at the end of Scarred Melody, ends up judging a singing contest after getting into some hot water. Jody Boyd, a young southern songstress, finds herself on Travis’ team. In order to salvage his career, Travis has to help Jody find her voice so he can win the contest. Will Travis be able to win the contest and Jody’s heart…hmm, we’ll see!

Q: What advice would you give to a new writer?

Though I still consider myself a new writer, the one thing I would tell someone who wants to write a book is write it. Whatever stands between you and putting words to paper, remove it. Because nothing else–marketing, social media, cover models–nothing matters unless there’s a book actually written. End of.

I had nothing material to give him, but I could make sure he had his son for Christmas.”

Blurb

A secret baby…a second chance…can Christmas wishes come true?

Violet

I finally left the life my parents forced me into, giving my son and me the one we deserve. Life is about second chances and I’m hoping going back to LA will give the chance I need with the one person I never stopped loving. My son needs to meet his father and I need him to forgive me.

Billy

I’ve got fame and fortune locked down. It’s what comes with the territory as the bassist for the renowned Skyler Dalton. But something is missing, something I couldn’t hold on to. When I fill in as Santa at my record label’s Christmas party, the missing link lands right in my lap.

Christmas Melody is a novella featuring some of your favorite characters from Scarred Melody. It’s a fun holiday treat ending with a Christmas wish.

Excerpt

Violet

Have you seen Billy?” I shout-whispered the question and five people turned to look at me.

Why? Do you want to see him?” Amelia lifted an eyebrow, giving me a sassy smile.

I need to talk to him. There’s unfinished business,” I hiccupped, teetering over a little bit.

Unfinished business, as in an unfinished orgasm or two?”

I rolled my eyes. Same old horn dog, Amelia.

Not everything revolves around an orgasm, Amelia,” I scoffed.

Yes, it does! I stand behind that argument and will die on that hill.”

Oh shit, she was gearing up. I sat back down on a nearby barstool and braced myself.

Think about it. We take care of our health, so we’ll look good, attract the opposite sex, and have an orgasm. We go to work so we’ll make money, buy things to attract a dude so we can have an orgasm. Hell, we do the dishes so we can have a clean house, bring a dick over, fuck it, and have an orgasm. The single most common denominator in our lives is the search of a great orgasm.” Amelia swept out her arm and curtsied, her argument complete.

Really? Then why do we have kids?” I asked, convinced I had her on this one.

So we can be of value as the mothers of a man’s progeny which will attract them to our magical baby-making vaginas and provide us with orgasms.”

Shaking my head, I laughed hysterically. I’d missed this—Amelia and how fun she was. Sacramento wasn’t great with Jack and my parents, but I’d had some friends, though they were mostly other parents at the schools. Not girlfriends I’d call up when my husband was giving me crap or when Vin got on my nerves. We were more perfect parent competitors, especially at Vin’s exclusive private school. Housewifery was not for me.
