Savoring Those First Times

By Cheyenne Blue (Guest Blogger)

Hello everyone, and firstly, huge thanks to Lisabet for once again hosting me on her blog.

I’m here to talk about my second anthology, First: Sensual Lesbian Stories of New Beginnings

The theme for First may seem obvious—you’re probably thinking this is another anthology of first lesbian sexual experiences. Well, yes… and very definitely no.

When I pitched the idea to Ladylit, I wanted to build a collection that took a wider sweep over the landscape of first times. I hoped for stories that captured the emotions that accompany first experiences, whatever they may be. And that is what I got. The fifteen stories that make up First have captured anticipation, fear, excitement, redemption, anger, wonder, exhilaration,, and of course love and lust and these emotions are woven into a plethora of varied tales.

Of course, there are some very fine stories of first time lesbian sex in this erotic collection—it wouldn’t be complete without these stories.

I hope you enjoy the anthology.

Blurb

Dive into these fifteen sizzling tales of lesbian love and romance and experience the wonder, the joy, and the magic of new beginnings.

A woman sees her lover for the first time after years of blindness. For the first time in her life, a top trusts her girlfriend enough to let her take control. A connection forged in a bar in New Mexico encourages a breast cancer survivor to take a lover. Stories of new love and first lesbian encounters intermingle with other emotional and physical firsts, and the excitement of new experiences: an around the world flight, the thrill of a carnival, and even the first time to see the sea.

With fantastic stories by favorite writers such as Sacchi Green, Harper Bliss, Annabeth Leong, Allison Wonderland, and Jeremy Edwards, the variety in this anthology means there is something for everyone.

My own story "Amelia" is my take on the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, the legendary pilot who disappeared while attempting an around-the-world flight. Here's the start of that story:

When the fuel finally runs out, the engines splutter and fall into silence. Now there’s only the thud of her heart in her ears, the quiet sky and its heavy-bellied white clouds. The increasing panic that had consumed her as she’d tried and failed to contact the ship that was supposed to guide her in to land vanishes. Amelia is calm now, with a clear-headed detachment. She’s an experienced pilot; she knows how the Electra will glide, how it will swoop over the winds of the Pacific, descending, descending, until she bellies down in the ocean.
Next to her, Fred, the navigator whispers “Oh my God, oh sweet Jesus, save our souls” over and over, and one part of her mind thinks how predictable he is, turning religious as the plane and the sky part company and the possibility of death arises.

Stop that,” she snaps. “Look for land. Howland Island should be here, according to you.”

He stares at her with wide frantic eyes, and she thinks, not for the first time, that the two of them are mismatched as pilot and navigator. She doesn’t even like him much--his inane conversation irks her, as does his habit of releasing gas, blaming the altitude of flight. The thought flashes through her mind that if the Electra crashes into the ocean she might die next to this buffoon, instead of with her husband, or one of her lovers. She shuts that thought out and scans the water. Howland Island is small and flat to the ocean. They could be almost on top of it and not know.

Fred is now reciting the Lord’s Prayer. She flicks him an irritated glance. His eyes are closed. She shouts at him to open his goddamned eyes and look for land, and he might manage to put off meeting his maker for a while longer. He does as he’s told, and they both search the ocean as the plane sinks lower, floating though the layers of wind and air currents, the sea below and Fred's heaven above.

They both see the island at the same moment. It's small, a tiny droplet of land in the expanse of water. It’s dead ahead, and they are too high, it’s too close, and she has no hope of banking or circling back to it. She has to put the plane down sharply and hope there is somewhere forgiving for the plane’s resting place. Amelia adjusts the controls, the little plane shudders, responds, noses down at a steeper angle. Too sharp, she knows, but this is their only option. Her fingers sure on the wheel. She can do it, she knows that. She sees dense green vegetation, and a flock of birds that come bursting out, startled by the silver plane above them that must look like some giant bird of prey.

There is somewhere to land. A lagoon—softest blue, shimmering aquamarine—ringed by jungle, a narrow collar of land around this jewel. She can see the lagoon is shallow—there’s the lazy flap of a ray in the clear water—and she levels out the Electra so that its belly is nearly skimming the water. Fred is tight-knuckled beside her; no doubt he thinks he procured this miraculous island by the power of his prayer.

Sneak Peek: Shopping for a CEO by Julia Kent

[Somehow I neglected to line up a guest for today’s spot. But that’s okay. I’ve got a sneak peek at a light-hearted and sexy new release from Julia Kent. Enjoy! ~ Lisabet]

Blurb

I’m thrilled to be the maid of honor in my friend’s wedding, but the best man, Andrew McCormick, is a chauvinistic pig with a God complex.

And I can’t stop kissing him in closets.

(Don’t ask.)

He’s the brother of the groom and the CEO of my biggest mystery shopping account, but suddenly he’s refusing to be in the wedding. He won’t talk about it. Won’t see reason.

He’s such a man.

And he still won’t stop kissing me in random closets.

(Thank goodness.)

I’m a fixer. That’s what I do. I can fix anything if given the chance. But when the game is fixed there’s only so much I can do.

The ball’s in his court now.

Game on.

* * *

Shopping for a CEO is the 7th book in the New York Times and USA Today bestselling Shopping series. When CEO Andrew McCormick and mystery shopper Amanda Warrick find themselves in the unlikely position as maid of honor and best man in the Boston society wedding of the year, an undeniable attraction and dual stubborn streaks add fuel to the fire in this romantic comedy from Julia Kent.

Excerpt

Why did you kiss me the first time? That day when I barged into your office?”

He nods, eyes looking at everything and nothing, finally settling on my face. “Because you were so passionate about protecting Shannon. Because you were adorable and irate and you had this energy I wanted to taste.”

I’m holding my breath. I thought we would spend this first date doing the awkward getting-to-know you dance. Andrew’s gone right to the point. Laser focus.

Just like a CEO.

Taste?”

Yes. I know what I want. I don’t equivocate. I decide and act. I compartmentalize. I issue orders and execute strategy. You came in that day and started ordering me around and it was cute and exciting and inspiring. Oddly sensual. And when you kissed me -- ”

_You_ kissed _me_!”

And when _we_ kissed,” he says, eyebrows raised, as if settling this point once and for all, “I got something far more forbidden than I realized I was getting when I went for that simple taste of you.”

Forbidden?

What’s that?”

He studies me, as if sizing me up, trying to determine whether he should tell me what’s next. Or not. Finally, his face changes through a series of three or four emotions, most of them involving some variation of deliberation.

And then:

You didn’t fit in a box.”

I fit in a closet.”

He doesn’t laugh.

You intrigued me.”

Not enough to call me after that kiss, though.”

He shakes his head. My heart plummets.

No, Amanda. The opposite. You intrigued me too much.”

I get the sense that the word ‘intrigued’ means something else.

You mean I scared you.”

His eyes flash with emotion I can’t read.

Yes.”

Men like Andrew McCormick don’t do this. They don’t lay their emotions out on the table like this. Why is he doing this?

Then why did you kiss me again? And again. And again again -- ”

I don’t know.”

C’mon.” The driver takes us onto the Mass Pike, lights flying by like spaceships. Like little orbs shooting past us, filled with people oblivious to the quantum shift taking place inside this tiny space. “You always know. You’re a CEO. You compartmentalize. You execute. You decide. You act. You can’t tell me that the great wunderkind Andrew Mc --”

He’s on me before I can take an inbreath to continue speaking, his body so big and bold, so impulsive and unrelenting. The limo becomes its own dimension, his hands seeking to hold all of me as we tumble into some new plane of awareness that doesn’t factor into any life we’ve known until this moment. His mouth finds mine, hands under my suit jacket, palm cupping the lines of my breasts, my waist, my hips, and he’s tasting me again, this time with an urgent need that comes from an honesty I don’t think he’s felt permission to express in a very long time.

If ever.

Review Tuesday: Ash's Fire by Callie Gold

Ash’s Fire by Callie Gold
2014

I received this book from the author, after she did a guest spot at my blog. That was almost a year ago. Yes, sometimes it takes me a long time to get around to reading the books I acquire! In fact, my husband read Ash’s Fire before I did. He recommended it highly. “It’s different,” he said. “Not exactly a romance. Not exactly a mystery. It will keep you guessing.”

His assessment was spot on (as is so often the case with my brilliant man). Anyone who follows my blog posts and reviews will probably have picked up on the fact that I really appreciate originality. Ash’s Fire stands out as one of the most distinctive books I’ve read in a while.

It’s also one of the most honest. The core conflict in this novel is the struggle between marital commitment and the intoxicating pull of erotic attraction. Ms. Gold recognizes that even the happiest and most stable marriages become less exciting over time, and that sometimes monogamy can be an impractical ideal.

Ash’s Fire begins with Sam Cohen telling Jordan, his wife and partner in a highly successful law firm, that he wants to have sex with another woman, specifically his twenty-something trainer at the gym. Theoretically, Sam and Jordan have an open marriage, but neither of them has previously taken advantage of their prerogatives. Now, after more than two decades together, Sam wants to explore the pleasures of a new lover.

Understandably, Jordan feels inadequate compared to Sam’s much younger playmate. Although Sam makes it clear he still loves her deeply, she can’t shake off the sense that she’s being rejected or replaced. These emotions make her vulnerable when she encounters talented pianist Ari Ash at a conference. She doesn’t fight the magnetism that draws them together. She and Ari share a chemistry so strong that it totally sweeps her away. Emotions swamp her clever and calculating lawyer persona.

But Ari is a man of mystery, entangled in a web of complications. Before long he is accused of murder. Jordan commits herself and her firm to defending him. All the evidence points to Ari’s guilt. Should she trust her heart and her instincts? Or is he lying to her, as he lied about his violent past?

Fans of traditional erotic romance will likely hate this book, because it breaks all the “rules”. I really enjoyed it. Ms. Gold does a fabulous job evoking the passion that overwhelms Jordan in Ari’s presence. I could feel, smell, taste every moment of the extraordinary love scenes. I also loved the strong sense of place that pervades the book, which is set in Israel. Ms. Gold describes the environment, the people and the food in fabulous detail, including the bombing of a bus. “A bombing to an Israeli, she learned years ago, was like an earthquake to a Southern Californian. You were shaken and then, you shook it off.”

My most significant complaint about Ash’s Fire is that some of the language in the sex scenes struck me as coy , using awkward indirection to avoid the use of anatomical terms. This only happened occasionally, but it was enough to annoy me. My other concern involves the plausibility of Jordan’s profession. She’s a sympathetic and appealing character, but she’s so intensely emotional that it was hard for me to imagine she could be a lawyer. That’s a profession that demands the ability to distance oneself from feeling and to focus on facts. Although she’s quick-thinking and skilled at influencing others, Jordan rarely shows much control over her reactions.

Overall, though, Ash’s Fire is a great read, one that will keep you engrossed until the very last page. If you don’t mind a story that deals with marital infidelity, I think you’ll enjoy it.

She re-evaluates her priorities and decides she grab hold of life with both hands.

Can this couple face the trails ahead and build a future together?

Excerpt

Incapable of resisting, Marianne set a hand on his chest and absorbed the pleasure of being in this man’s arms again. Too bad the bliss couldn’t last longer. He needed to get back to work. She had errands to run. “Knox, you’re making it harder and harder to resist you.”

Then don’t. We’ve both had more than enough time to know what we want. Jack and Betty both died almost two years ago. We needed to move on.” He caressed a hand along her back, easing her body even closer to the hard line of his.

Marianne smiled. She’d known him for years as her husband’s boss and respected for all he’d accomplished in the business world. Her hang-up over their age difference grew less and less important as more time passed. “Shouldn’t we at least date a few other people first? Test the water. Make sure we’re not making a mistake by latching onto the first person we’re attracted to.”

Good, so you admit you find me attractive?” He lowered his head and nuzzled the side of her neck, playfully nipping at her ear.

She sighed. His tantalizing touch and the deep rumble of his voice tempted her into sliding her hand along the back of his neck. Her fingers slid through his silky hair, and she marveled at sensual thrill of being so close to him. For months now, she’d convinced herself her life was full enough with just her kids and grandkids.

Could she be wrong?

Sunday Snog #194: The Witches of Gloucester

Happy Sunday! I’ve been away all week on a business trip, but I’m back just in time to post this week’s snog.

I decided to share a kiss or two from my lesbian paranormal erotic romance story The Witches of Gloucester. This is partly in celebration of the wonderful review I just got on Amazon for this book. Plus, of course, we’ve just entered the month for witches, though there’s nothing scary about my sorceress trio.

Also, I’m in a LGBT mood, because I’m reading a new book of short stories by the fabulous Giselle Renarde, entitled LGBT Love. Giselle is donating 100% of the proceeds from this book to LGBT charities. So why don’t you pick up a copy, too? You’ll find all the buy links here: http://ohgetagrip.blogspot.com/2015/10/true-heartfelt-loving-kindness.html (And no, this is not just a ploy to get you to visit my other blog Oh Get a Grip! Giselle is an amazing writer.)

After you’ve savored my snog, slide over to Victoria’s place for more Sunday kisses!

She flipped the card over to reveal the three of hearts.

Fear, excitement and lust washed through her in alternating waves. She pushed the exultation away. “It’s just random luck,” she said, wanting but not daring to believe. That force, that attraction – she’d imagined it. She was suggestible – Tim had always said so – and these two women had formidable wills.

Try again,” Beryl urged.

The two of spades, the Jack of diamonds, the ace of hearts – she found them all, one after the other. The pull of the card she sought grew stronger each time.

What does it mean?” she asked at last. She sounded small and scared to her own ears.

‘“Let’s try something else first.” Marguerite drew a card from the deck, gazed at it for a moment, then placed it face down in front of her. “Tell me which card I just picked.”

The answer came to her almost before the tawny beauty had asked her question, with no effort at all. “Four of diamonds.”

Now me.” Beryl selected not one but three cards, setting them out in a row. “You know what to do, Emmeline.”

The messages weren’t so clear this time. She felt as though several different people were shouting in her head. Images of cards flashed by, too fast and indistinct for her to decipher. “I don’t know,” she whimpered. “I can’t...”

Beryl seized her by the wrist across the gap. Power jolted through her. The pictures snapped into focus. “Nine of spades, six of clubs, Queen of hearts. Oh my God...”

Marguerite gathered Emmeline into her arms as the girl burst into ragged tears.

Hush now.” The raven-haired woman combed her jewel-encircled fingers through Emmy’s platinum locks. “Don’t be afraid.” Warm lips branded Emmy’s brow. A supple tongue flicked out to gather the tears from Emmeline’s cheeks. Through wine-colored velvet, Marguerite’s ample bosom, simultaneously soft and firm, pillowed her own more modest breasts. A whiff of cinnamon tickled her nose, followed by the musky aroma of female arousal.

Emmeline’s already swollen nipples pulsed like the lighthouse off Bass Rocks. A wave of liquid need swept through her, cresting and breaking between her thighs.

Oh...oh, please...” Marguerite’s fierce kiss swallowed her moan. A snake-like tongue wriggled into Emmy’s mouth, brazen and seductive. Emmeline yielded, swooning with the heat of that kiss, until needle-sharp teeth nipped the plumpness of her lower lip.

Hey! Aah...” Her yelp became a groan of need as the tiny pain kindled new fires in her hungry pussy.

Ssh. Just relax, love.” That was Beryl’s voice, smooth, hypnotic, matching the delicate brush of fingertips along her shoulders and down her arms. “Let us pleasure you the way you deserve.”
Seduced by the redhead’s quiet dominance, Emmeline obeyed. She closed her eyes, letting the rising tide of her own lust drown the last shreds of fear.

In the sweet darkness, every sensation grew more acute. Marguerite deepened the kiss, sucking Emmy’s tongue into her mouth, while Beryl stroked Emmy’s back, belly and thighs. The wandering hands barely touched Emmeline’s body but everywhere they traveled, delicious heat followed.

Sneak Peek: Lipstick by Erzabet Bishop

[I couldn't decide which of Erzabet's excerpts I liked better. So I decided to include them both! Enjoy! ~ Lisabet]

Lipstick: Black Dress Chronicles, Book 1

The perfect shade of lipstick can lead to the perfect opportunity for sin…

When living-challenged author Claire Presswood gets invited to go on a night out on the town with her two best friends, she isn't prepared for the evening that awaits her. Hungry and overworked, she arrives at a masked party at an art museum in time to meet debonair artist Maxwell Douglas. One look from his luminous eyes and Claire knows this will be a night to remember.

Nice Excerpt

What do you think? Does this lipstick make me look fat?” I eyed the mirror and mushed my lips into a moue.

Oh my God, Claire.” Rachel rolled her eyes and snorted. “Fat? Really?” She smoothed on a shade of cranberry red that looked dazzling with her preternaturally enhanced olive skin. The girl made being a vampire look good.

I gave her a thumb’s up.

Yes. Fat. Come on, guys. I need something different. Nothing too…edgy.”

Edgy, huh?” Carmen snickered, her kitty shifter cattiness coming into play. The Latin beauty grinned. “You should be worried about it making you look dead.”

Carmen sauntered over to the makeup counter where we were trying on new shades of lipstick and selected a tube, twisting it open. She grimaced and shoved it back. “Some of these…ugh. You might as well be trying out for the circus. Why don’t you try something a little more drastic? Like this one?” She lifted up a black tube and opened it to reveal a shade of purplish brown that I loved.

Sin” was one of the hottest colors around. I actually had it in my makeup bag at home, but tonight wasn’t about scaring up a bondage partner. It was more about having a normal night out with the girls.

I already have that one. Too leather club. I want human. Natural.”

Carmen snorted and twirled a finger in her hair. “Honey, I love you, but one thing you are not is human.”

Bitch.” I turned my head from side to side. Nope. The earthy shade was appealing and didn't make me appear like a candidate for the coroner’s office.

Score!

Maybe, but you know I’m right. Can’t have you going to the party looking like a zombie now, can we?”

Ha ha.” The comment stung, but Carmen did have a point. With my complexion, if I got something too red, I’d look like I’d just eaten someone’s face off. Something too light? Postmortem ice queen with no color at all. Finding the right lipstick was an art and apparently a forensic science.

All right, fang girl. Are you ready yet? Because I am.” Carmen poked Rachel in the back with her long red fingernail and smirked. “The party is going to be over and all the hot guys taken before you get your vampire ass out of that chair.”

Naughty Excerpt

What would you like to see first?” Maxwell's eyes resumed their fiery trail down my body.

How about that spanking bench?” I smiled, letting him lead the way.

He led me to it and I leaned forward onto the padded seat, deliberately giving him a stellar view of my backside. Rachel was right about the dress. It was perfect.

Is this right?” I feigned ignorance, waggling my ass in the air.

He moved behind me and as I arched my back in a provocative pose. He sucked in his breath. “Yes. I'd say that's just about perfect.” He pressed his erection against my ass, grinding it against me.

I moaned deep in my throat, sure that this had to be some kind of dream. Moisture pooled in my slit and hunger clawing at my insides. A low keening growl escaped my lips and I froze.

Bad zombie.

He reached around and kissed me, his breath falling short as he took in the slight glow of my eyes.

Exactly.” He opened my mouth, sliding his tongue against mine, urging me to respond.

I accepted the challenge, savoring his mouth. His scent was earthy and his essence made me want to devour him.

He broke the kiss and leaned back, his gaze meeting mine.

God, my palm itches to spank you,” he breathed, reaching for an errant curl that had fallen across my face. “You are intoxicating.”

I took his hand and placed it on my breast, eager and more than ready. I turned in his arms and pushed my ass alongside the erection straining against his trousers. I imagined it inside me, pressing in even closer.

I want you,” I breathed.

Well then, there is just one little thing we need to remedy.” Maxwell's voice was low as he ran his hand in a light trail down my spine.

Really? What's that?” I shivered as his hand traced lines down my body.

The dress. It has to go.”

Ummm.” I lifted my arm and his hand found the zipper. As he slowly moved it down, the dress loosened and he pulled it over my head. Clad in the thong, lacy-topped black thigh-highs, and shiny black stilettos, the chill of the room had fine goosebumps erupting all over my skin. My nipples pebbled with the delicious blend of cold and desire and maybe just a little fear. This man could do anything to me and who was to say the woman in his pictures upstairs was even alive?

The danger sped up my heart and made my juices flow.
