"You're in danger." -- @TinaDonahue #eroticsuspense #revenge

SiNN cover
Blurb

She's every man's carnal fantasy...and the target of one's revenge

At a Phoenix gentleman’s club, Lea dances as SiNN, her body bared and vulnerable to her male partner, her features hidden behind a feathered mask. To the men watching, she’s a sensual enigma, submissive and seductive with no face, name or history. Not even Lea knows her real origins.

A man from the past does and wants her dead.

Not on the watch of U.S. Marshals Jake Gabriel and Toby Quinn. Commanding and decisive, Jake not only wants Lea’s safety but to have her naked and yielding beneath him. To Toby, she’s all he should resist but cannot.

Protected by them at a secluded estate, Lea’s drawn to their potent masculinity and the raw male lust in their eyes. Inviting desire and an emotional connection, she submits to both at once, surrendering to their most shameless hunger along with her own wanton needs.

All while a killer edges closer…

Excerpt

Gripping her keys in one hand and pepper spray in the other, she rounded the corner and stopped.

The blond from inside stood near her rusting Ford Fiesta.

Surprise, curiosity, and desire rippled through her, matching the unmistakable longing sweeping across his face.

His reaction didn’t last.

Authority returned quickly, hardening his features, dismissing his previous lust, telling her he recalled he was here on business, and not of the corporate variety.

Unfortunately, that only left the government, as in the INS or Uncle Sam. After seeing her on stage, he must have presumed she was an illegal and got paid under the table.

Her initial arousal and confusion turned to fast indignation. How dare he. As a good, upstanding citizen, she reported her tips…for the most part, and figured that was why he was here, giving her his I-want-you-but-you’re-in-deep-doo-doo look. He intended to either check her immigration status or audit her. Damn. If he took her vehicle because she hadn’t paid enough taxes, she’d be totally screwed, not able to go to school or work. Her stomach twisted.

She couldn’t figure out how he’d even known she was SiNN and the vehicle was hers or she’d leave early.

Unless a bouncer here had told him, caving because he had his own tax problems.

Idiot. When she got her hands on the SOB, he’d regret the day he—

Ms. Baptista.”

Her pulse jumped at the voice from behind…deep, resonant, possessive.

Even before she turned, she knew she’d face the man in black. The way he spoke matched what she’d imagined in her mind. A protective, masculine tone, commanding but also safe, calling to the female within her. She met his dark eyes, his irises sparkling in the parking lot lights.

Unlike the blond, he was close enough for her to sense his restrained strength and heat…the male animal within him barely controlled.

Everything went still, the traffic sounds, noisy insects, and masculine laughter receding beneath her wildly pounding heart. Held by his potent allure, she couldn’t think, breathe, or budge.

He slipped his hand into his back pocket.

Her pulse leaped. Acting on instinct, she stepped to the side, putting distance between herself and him. His shirttails hid the bulge behind his fly. The erection she sensed he sported.

It should have frightened her further, but didn’t. No more than the blond guy by her car.

Having grown up around strangers, she’d acquired the ability to read them quickly. These men didn’t seem to be physically dangerous, though they were clearly together. They knew her name and had come out here for an ambush. Now all she needed to know was what kind. The blond seemed prepared to hassle, not harm her, while naked passion flickered in this man’s eyes.

Her legs weakened.

Ms. Baptista.” He spoke quietly, the way a guy would if he wanted no one except her to hear. “I’m Jake Gabriel from the U.S. Marshal’s Service.”

It took a moment for his words to register. Even then, she didn’t understand. U.S. Marshals here to speak to her? Why?

He opened a leather wallet and showed her a circular gold badge, a large star in the center.

Very impressive, but it didn’t tell her what this meant for her. Bewildered, she looked at him.

He regarded her pepper spray then inclined his head toward her car. “That’s my partner, Toby Quinn.”

She wanted to look, but couldn’t. Jake had captured her full interest. She guessed him to be six-three, given how he towered over her. This close, she caught his leather and musk scent, an intoxicating mixture. The faint breeze ruffled his glossy black hair, freeing a strand.

It fell forward, grazing his forehead, the tip touching his dark eyebrow.

Tantalized, she had an insane urge to ease the lock back then trail her fingers over his rich skin. She could almost feel its heat, the bite from his beard-stubbled cheeks.

He closed his wallet. “You need to come with us.”

That she understood. Sort of. Her arousal receded beneath renewed alarm. “What? Why?” He couldn’t be arresting her. He’d better not try it. She frowned. “I haven’t done anything wrong. I’m in this country legally. I pay my taxes.”

Amusement flickered across his face. “This isn’t about your status or taxes.” His tone was gentler than before, the way a man would speak to someone he valued. “You’re not in trouble, but you do need to come with us.” He slipped his wallet back into his pocket and rested his hand on her upper arm.

His warmth and tempered strength jolted her, sending her heart to her throat where it pounded so fiercely the world spun.

Breathless, she could barely speak. “I don’t understand.”

I know.” He glanced past her to Toby then met her gaze. “You’re in danger.”

Day is no problem, but as tensions rise at night, nothing can protect them from giving in to unbridled passion . . .

Excerpt

He wasn’t as much shocked by his physical reaction as by the fact that it happened at all. For a long time now, he’d managed to keep a clamp on his sex drive and take it out only when required, like taking aspirin for a headache.

You’re a smart woman,” he congratulated her. “I didn’t know if you’d play along with me.”

She inhaled an unsteady breath and blew it out. “I took a chance. You could have been worse than they were.”

Still, that shows brains and quick thinking. Good for you.” He studied the interior of her car. “Wow. They did a number with that window. Don’t move. There’s chunks and pebbles everywhere.”

She stared at him, studying his face. “You promise you aren’t the second wave? You know, like good cop, bad cop? The bad guys threaten me and you come along and win my confidence by helping me?”

Nope. Scout’s honor.”

I, uh, saw that you have a gun.”

So did those jackasses. I wanted them to see it.” He smiled at her. “But I only use it as part of my job.”

She caught her lower lip in her teeth. “They just came at me out of nowhere and ran me off the road. Then they boxed me in and smashed the window.”

Later I’ll want all the details. Right now let’s get you out of here.”

Do you know who they are? Those men?”

No.” His voice hardened. “But I know other garbage like them.”

She swallowed. “So who are you, anyway?”

Oh. Sorry.” He winked at her, and the tension in her body visibly eased. “Logan Malik. Savior of women in danger.”

Devon Cole.” She dug up a smile. “Woman in danger who needed saving.”

A Vision of New Orleans (#eroticromance #suspense #firstnovel @AnniFifeAuthor)

Luke's Redemption cover

By Anni Fife (Guest Blogger)

I began writing Luke’s Redemption in June last year. It was one month after I left the city for the beach, and changed my life forever. It was also the first book I had ever written, or even attempted to write. I was able to stave off my panic because I already had my basic plot outlined. The idea came flowing into my head a few nights before my departure. It was around midnight. I don’t know what triggered my creative juices, but suddenly I could hear Katya’s footsteps beating a desperate rhythm down a dark cobble-stoned road in the early hours of the morning. It was dead quiet. New Orleans was hung over from Mardi Gras. As I watched her, I realized I was looking through the scope of a sniper lens. Was I her hunter or her hero? Or both? My story unfurled at such a rapid pace I was terrified I’d fall asleep, and when I woke my idea, like an elusive dream, would be gone. In a mad spin, I turned on my bedside lamp, and spent the next hour typing manically on my iPhone. When I turned off the light, I had the beginnings of my novel. The next time I looked at it was one month later, when I sat down to write.

Completing my debut novel has been a wild journey. Seven months to write it. Two months to edit. Two months to secure a publishing contract. And now here I am, ready for release.

I wrote Luke’s Redemption for my own tastes. So if you like contemporary erotic romances with a lot of angst and some suspense; hot alpha heroes with damage; smart sassy heroines, also with some damage; and burning chemistry that dictates lots of conflict, and even more heat—then why don’t you give this story a go?

Blurb

Red-hot sex. Searing betrayal. A passionate and elusive love…

Chased by her criminal kingpin father, Katya Dalca runs to New Orleans and straight into the arms of Luke Hunter. Sucked into the carnal world of the French Quarter, she succumbs to Luke’s potent sexuality. He not only steals her breath, he steals her heart and the only leverage she has against her father. She is left with no choice except to pick up the pieces and rebuild her life alone.

Undercover DEA agent Luke Hunter thought his newest assignment—recover a stolen flash drive to gain the trust of the Russian mob—was like any other. But his target brings him to his knees, and after one taste of her intoxicating beauty, he's in too deep. Doing his job means walking away, leaving his heart behind with nothing but a promise to reunite. It's a promise he can't keep.

When Katya's past reaches out and her world unravels, her only hope is the one man she is most vulnerable to—Luke.

Excerpt

Luke and I drove alone. Lily insisted she was traveling with Gray and Tane, and clambered into their SUV before anybody could stop her. I didn’t want to argue with Lily. She was still processing the scare of seeing Dani unconscious, and Gray was a safe distraction for her. My distraction was my confrontation with Anna. I asked Luke about the beautiful—but skanky—Russian. All he would say was she worked with Nicu when he was undercover. A tense silence filled the vehicle and for the rest of our drive I mulled over how Anna fitted into the picture. There had been a weird vibe between Luke and Anna that I couldn’t let go of.

Had he used Anna the same way he used me? What could she have had that he needed? Maybe he just liked her!

We pulled into the underground parking at King Security and Luke parked the SUV in line with several other huge black Ford Expeditions. It appeared King Security had its own fleet.

Unable to stop myself, I blurted, “You were with Anna when you were undercover with my father, weren’t you?”

Luke pulled the keys from the ignition. In the deafening silence I didn’t think he was going to answer. Then he turned to me and bit out. “Yes!”

Wow! I didn’t expect him to be so honest. I sat back and folded my arms, tight. Damn, his answer hurt me. “So you make a habit of lying to your women? Being with them while you’re pretending to be someone you’re not? Is that your thing?”

She wasn’t my woman,” Luke growled. “She was just a woman. She was there, I was there. It was never deep and it sure as hell wasn’t forever. Then it was over, and I made certain she was clear of the investigation. That was it.” He leaned towards me and said impatiently, “That tell you what you want to know?”

Not even close. You made love to her didn’t you?”

Hell no!” Luke snarled. “I fucked her. Like I have all the other women in my life. There’s only one woman I ever made love to Katya. And that was you.”

I went rigid, stunned into silence. Luke turned to open his car door. “You didn’t make love to me, Michael did,” I whispered.

He quickly turned back and leaned in close, right up to my face. His breath smelled lightly of coffee. I stopped breathing when his inky gaze drifted from my eyes to my mouth then back again. I felt cornered but also strangely alive. Then in his rough, oh so sexy voice, he replied, “You can wish that as hard as you want, sweetheart, but it was me, Luke, sliding through your innocence, taking everything you had to give. And it was my cock driving you to come, baby. Over and over again!” He stared at me a moment longer, then climbed out of the car, slamming the door closed.

Sunday Snog 245: Exposure (#lgbtq #suspense #sundaysnog)

Exposure cover

Happy Sunday! It’s time for another Sunday Snog – my 245th, if you can believe it!

Today I have a rather emotionally ambiguous F/F bit from my erotic suspense novel Exposure. Definitely not romance, but searingly hot nevertheless. As you have come to expect from me...

After you’re finished with my snog, head back to Victoria’s for more sexy Sunday kisses.

Sex, blood and betrayal: it's all in a day's work.

Stella is just minding her own business and having a bit of fun, working as an exotic dancer at the Peacock Lounge. Through no fault of her own, she witnesses a double murder and gets pulled into a shady dance of deceit with political bigwigs, mob bosses, dirty cops and scheming widows. Now she's everyone's target; her only chance is to sift through the lies and expose the truth.

Get your copy here! (ebook and print)

~~~
I manage to hold together reasonably well until I get to the point where Tony kissed me. Then I falter. Francesca’s gaze burns into me, demanding the truth, but I somehow can’t reveal the intimacy that her husband and I had shared.
She looks at me for a long time, until I have to look away. Then she stares at her hands, her long pale fingers adorned with a plain gold band and a large diamond.
So then you had sex,” she murmurs. “You and Tony.”
I nod, dumb again.
She sighs. “Then what happened?”
I describe those last violent, confusing moments as best I can. She seems genuinely shocked. “Andy shot Tony? I can’t believe it!”
It’s possible,” I say softly, “that he was aiming for me.”
You? Why would he shoot you?”
I don’t have a clue. But I was on top. If Tony hadn’t heard the noise, and thrown me off, the bullet would have gone straight into my back.”
Where is this theory coming from? Last night I thought that maybe Mr. Clean planned to kill me later, but now I’m somehow convinced that he wanted to murder me then and there. The whole scene seems like a crime of passion, not a careful plot.
Tell me more. I want to know everything.” She leans forward, her tears gone.
Her eagerness makes me suspicious. Why in the world should I trust her? She has every reason to hate me, the floozy who was with her husband when he was murdered.
That’s it. After that—there was just two dead bodies and a lot of blood.” I remember how Tony looked, empty, all his life and power gone. At the time I was too shocked to know I was afraid, but now the horror hits me, full force. I am confused and dizzy, and suddenly I am shaking again, my breath coming in gasps, close to hysteria.
I feel her arms around me. She’s comforting me now; my head is on her chest. “Hush, Stella, it’s okay. Don’t worry. It’s over. You’re safe. It’s terrible, but now you’re safe.”
I’m sobbing, gulping in air, trying to get control of myself. Still I notice that her breast is pleasantly round and firm beneath my cheek. Her scent envelops me in a sensuous cloud. She runs her fingers through my hair, working out the tangles, while she croons in my ear. I begin to feel a bit better, and then suddenly, she slips her hand inside my robe and begins to stroke my breast with cool, delicate fingers.
I raise my head and look into her eyes. Her lips curve into a half-smile. She leans down and kisses me, open-mouthed. I kiss her back.
It is as if I am watching myself from a distance. I feel the sensations, her smooth skin, her minty taste, the tickle of her hair as she bends to suck on my nipples. I can’t understand why her touch arouses me so much. I’m still afraid, still suspicious, but the sensation of her tongue prodding my swollen flesh pushes everything else into the background. She nips at me. My cunt contracts into a tight knot, aching to be undone. She laps more gently, circling my nipples with her tongue. My sex relaxes, opens, trembles waiting for her next assault.
I am eager, wet and ready when her fingers find my cleft. I clutch desperately at her dress, arching my back and humping myself against her hand while she plays with my tits. She finds my rigid clit and works it with her thumb while her fingers play in my pussy. I squeeze my eyes shut, grinding against her, reaching for the climax that seems only a breath away. Pleasure washes over me, each wave more powerful than the last. Her fingers strum and stroke. My whole body vibrates with sensation, ready to shake itself apart, as I teeter on the edge for what feels like forever.
I feel all this and yet I am far away, wondering who this woman is, wondering why she wants to give me pleasure and why I am allowing her to do so. My orgasm is shattering and yet it seems to occur behind a wall of glass. I am divided from myself in a way that is totally foreign to me. It’s frightening.
Sneak Peek: Heart in Chains (#mm #erotic #suspense @ElodieParkes)
By Elodie Parkes (Guest Blogger)
I so enjoyed writing Heart in Chains. Id just written, MM romance, A Forever Kind of Thing for an Encompass Ink anthology to be released later this year and I was still in MM story writing mode.
Connor and Jay my heroes just gelled in my mind immediately as I considered the kind of adventure Connor might have on vacation in an exotic place such as Indonesia. Jay is a mysterious character, tough, driven, but on the verge of changing his dangerous life when he meets Connor. Connor is still getting over a relationship break up, but it’s been long enough and he’s tired of being single. His former boyfriend’s betrayal stays with him, but as soon as he sees Jay, attraction is seeded in his heart.
These two characters are dear to me. Tenderness lies beneath Jay’s composed and tough exterior and courage lies beneath Connor’s sexual vulnerability. I think both will surprise you as you read their story.
Blurb
When Connor Douglas takes a tropical island holiday, he hopes to leave heartbreak behind. Little does he know the extent of the danger and sexual temptation that awaits him.
Long after Jay Levesque has closed down his operations on the very same tropical island, the memory of Connor haunts him.
Warm nights and scorching sex has someone’s heart in chains.
Excerpt
Darkness was falling as Jay arrived back with another man. They carried a tray each and the other man carried a stool. The other man left, but Jay smiled at Connor as he waited by the bed. Jay flipped a switch on the wall by the door and lit the place. Light streamed downward from the little white coolie-hat shade.
Come, let’s eat.” He indicated the chair and sat on the stool himself.
Connor dragged his chain as he went to the table. He sat and took the cover off the plate of food. It looked good and the fish was already cut up, which was great since there was no knife, only a fork by his plate. He didn’t expect to be hungry, but after tasting the food, he ate almost all of it before he put down his fork and gave a sigh.
Jay ate slowly. When Connor stopped eating so did he and he placed his fork on the tray.
It’s good to see you eat. Kiku, the man who brought the food with me, is going to bring coffee. Tell me about yourself.”
Connor turned to face Jay. He felt better after eating. “I don’t get it. Why do you want to know? Why are you being kind?”
Jay frowned. “There’s no need not to be kind. Humor me. Tell me a little about yourself.”
Connor shrugged. “I’m a marine biologist. I’m on vacation. I needed something completely different in my life for a time. These islands seemed like a good idea, far away, warm, beautiful, and …” He stopped talking. Whats the point in this?
Jay pushed his dark hair back from his forehead and folded his arms. He smiled.
Far away. From what, Connor? A love affair gone wrong I think.”
Connor looked down at the remains of his food in confusion. Did he really want to tell his captor about his heartbreak?
Not that it’s anything to do with you, but yes … I guess.”
Before Connor could react or even know what was happening, Jay reached out a hand and slipped it around Connor’s head. He swooped on Connor’s mouth and kissed him.
The kiss was so unexpected and yet so delicious, Connor closed his eyes and let it happen. He drifted in the soft merge of Jay’s lips on his. The lingering pressure and the way Jay brought his other hand up to caress the back of Connor’s neck was addictive. Connor leaned into the embrace. His cock hardened. Tingles from the circle of Jay’s fingertips on his neck spread down his spine and made his ass feel melted. Thoughts left him. The only thing that mattered right then was the kiss, and he lifted his hands to hold Jay’s muscled shoulders and kiss him in return.
It was Jay who drew away from the kiss.
Connor leaned back in his chair then, shocked at his response.
About Elodie
I’m a writer who is in love with happy endings, currently based in southern UK.
I love: music, art, flowers, trees, the ocean. I work with antiques by day and words by night. Like a vampire, darkness is my friend, that’s when the silence is only broken by an occasional hoot of owls in the woodlands opposite my home, and I write.
