Sneak Peak: Desert Heat by Lucy Felthouse

[I know you love M/M erotic tales. Here's one to whet your appetite! ~ Lisabet]

Blurb

Their love is forbidden by rules, religion and risk. Yet still they can’t resist.

Captain Hugh Wilkes is on his last tour of duty in Afghanistan. The British Army is withdrawing, and Wilkes expects his posting to be event-free. That is, until he meets his Afghan interpreter, Rustam Balkhi, who awakens desires in Wilkes that he’d almost forgotten about, and that won’t be ignored.

Please note: this book was previously published as part of the Unconditional Surrender bundle.

Excerpt

Captain Hugh Wilkes sucked in a deep breath, steeling himself for the heat he was about to be subjected to, though he already knew all the deep breaths in the world wouldn’t help. Darkness had fallen on Camp Bastion, in the notorious Helmand Province of Afghanistan, but there would still be residual warmth left to seep away throughout the small hours. Then the sun would rise, and it would start all over again. It was a damn desert, after all. But, all being well, it would be his last ever tour of the godforsaken place. The British Army was already preparing to pull out. The manpower had been reduced drastically over the previous months. It was time to leave the Afghans to get on with it. They weren’t being abandoned—far from it—they would still receive aid, training and money for years to come. But the British Army was no longer needed, apparently. It was still a volatile place, which would no doubt be monitored very closely, in case strategies needed to be reconsidered.

None of that was down to Wilkes, though. He was here with his platoon for six months, doing whatever they were ordered to do by their Company Commander, Major Hunter. It was unlikely they’d be doing any fighting—they weren’t here for offensive operations. More probably they’d be accompanying their vehicles, weapons and ammunition across the country as it was transported to the air base to be sent back home, or patrolling towns and villages as a show of presence, to reassure and protect the inhabitants.

There was only one way to find out. Grabbing his kit, he headed toward the ramp of the huge C17 aircraft with his colleagues, and followed them out onto the airstrip. Immediately, he was hit by the overwhelming smell of aviation fuel. As he moved away from the airplane this was replaced by the dry atmosphere.

Wilkes imagined he could feel the grains of sand coating his throat and tongue. He’d soon get used to it—he always did. Plus, on the bright side, he’d end up with a nice tan at the end of his deployment. Mentally, he crossed his fingers for a nice, event-free tour of duty. Letting his guard down wasn’t going to happen, naturally, he just hoped it wasn’t necessary. Hoped the insurgents would play nicely. The country was completely different to how it had been when Allied forces had gone in after 9/11. Some fantastic progress had been made, but it still wasn’t completely safe. But then, where was? People died in picturesque villages in the English countryside—though generally not courtesy of IEDs, AK-47s or suicide bombers.

Sneak Peek:Letters to a War Zone (M/M)

Blurb

When lonely insurance broker, Bailey, gets himself a new hobby, he ends up exchanging letters with a war zone. But he’s not expecting what happens next…

Bailey Hodgkiss is lonely and dissatisfied with his boring life as an insurance broker. In an attempt to insert some variety, he signs up to a website to write to serving soldiers. He’s put in touch with Corporal Nick Rock, and over the course of a couple of letters, the two of them strike up a friendship. They begin to divulge their secrets, including their preference for men.

Nick encourages Bailey to add more interests to his life. As a result, Bailey picks up his forgotten hobby, photography, and quickly decides to team it up with his other preferred interest, travel.

Booking a holiday to Rome is his biggest gesture towards a more exciting existence, and he eagerly looks forward to the trip. That is, until Nick says he’s coming home on leave, and it looks as though their respective trips will prevent them from meeting in person. Is there enough of a spark between them to push them to meet, or will their relationship remain on paper only?

Excerpt

After clicking all the available links on the website to find out more about it, Bailey decided to go ahead and sign up. He’d never know what it was really like unless he gave it a go.

He’d read about the site in an article somewhere, about how it linked people with serving soldiers, pilots, marines and sailors in order to write to them. It had been proven that receiving mail—even from someone they didn’t know—improved military morale. It sounded like a damn good use of time to Bailey, and it would be interesting, too.

He began typing his details into the online form. Of course, the chances were that he’d be paired up with a man, given the ratio of males to females in the forces. It didn’t matter, though. He could still exchange letters with a guy, become friends. It seemed like such an old-school way to communicate with someone, given how technology had come on over the years, but at least it was different. Perhaps it would give him something in his life to look forward to, something other than getting up, showering, going to work, coming home, eating, watching television and going to bed. The watching television—and even the eating—were occasionally replaced by nights out with friends or seeing family. Weekends were spent cleaning, washing clothes, gardening and odd jobs. Dull stuff, in other words.

He had an utterly mundane life, and Bailey knew it. It wasn’t even as if his job was exciting. Insurance broking was hardly thrilling, game-changing, or going to save the world. He didn’t expect having a pen pal to change his entire life, but it would certainly break the monotony. Hopefully.

He went through the various steps to fill in his details and create a profile, then continued right through to the information on actually writing and sending the letters. It looked straightforward enough.

His mind made up, Bailey immediately went in search of a pen, some nice paper and an envelope. Armed with a print out of exactly what to do when the letter was finished, he settled down at the kitchen table. Instantly, his mind went blank. What the fuck was he meant to say? He didn’t know any soldiers or other military personnel, didn’t know anything about their lives, other than there was a great deal more to it than shooting people and being shot at. His own existence was so fucking boring that he didn’t want to write about it. Unless there were any insomniacs in Afghanistan—telling them about his day would solve that particular condition right away.

After chewing on his biro until it broke, covering his lips and chin with ink, Bailey replaced it, resolving to try harder. He’d tell his pen pal the bare essentials about himself, then ask lots of questions about them and their work. That was bound to rustle up some conversation.

That decided, he began to write, absentmindedly swiping at his inky skin with a tissue. He’d have to scrub it off when he was done with the note. His wrist and hand had begun to ache before he was halfway down the page. He rolled his eyes. He sat on his arse at a desk all day, using a computer. As a result, even writing something short by hand was hard work! There was no way he was going to divulge that particular piece of information to someone that was willing to lay down their life to protect their country.

He just about managed to fill a single side of the A5-sized paper. And that was only because he’d formed large letters and spaced his words and lines out plenty. But he tried not to worry—at least he’d finished it, his first letter to a war zone.

He read through it carefully, relieved to find no mistakes. He’d forgotten how much more difficult—and messy—errors were on the written page. Computers let you edit and rewrite to your heart’s content. No correction fluid or crossings-out necessary.

Finally, he addressed the envelope. It felt like the longest address ever. The area and country was bad enough, even without including the soldier’s name and BFPO address. But it was done—Bailey Hodgkiss had penned a missive to Corporal Nick Rock, currently stationed at Camp Bastion, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Now he’d just have to post it and wait for a reply. The website had said his missive would take between one and three weeks to reach Corporal Rock. Then he had to allow for time for him to read it and send a reply. It could be around six weeks before he heard anything. If he heard anything at all.

Illicit Relations: An Interview with Lucy Felthouse

Hi, Lucy! Thanks for being my guest today. I'm really interested to learn more about your new M/M book, and I'll bet my readers are, too.

Lisabet Sarai:  Illicit Relations deals with a relationship between cousins. While this doesn't fit the strictest definition of incest, it will definitely make some readers uncomfortable. Why did you choose to write a story that seems deliberately provocative in this way?

Lucy Felthouse: I have no idea! LOL. It certainly wasn’t written with the intention of being deliberately provocative. I can’t say too much about this without giving away the twist in the tale—but rest assured, it’s not even as close to incest as you think.

LS: Do you personally find fantasies about inter-family sexual relationships arousing?

LF: No, not at all. But having said that, I don’t find fiction about it wrong, because it’s just fiction. I haven’t read any incest fiction, nor do I particularly want to, but if others do, then that’s fine. Reading the stuff isn’t illegal!

LS:  Are you concerned that this book might be banned by some vendors? Did the recent Kobo kerfuffle influence your decision to write this book in the first place?

LF: This book was written waaaay before the Kobo stuff cracked off, so it’s nothing to do with that. As I said before, I can’t say too much without giving the game away about the book, but if vendors ban it, then they’re dead wrong. This isn’t a book about incest. But if they do ban it, hey, you never know, it might increase my sales at other vendors! ;)

LS: What are your feelings about sales of erotic material? Is it appropriate for vendors to ban books about certain topics? If so, what should be the determining criteria?

LF: I strongly believe that every adult should be allowed to read exactly what erotic fiction they like. They’re adults, and it’s just reading. It doesn’t mean they’re going to act out what they’ve read, that they even want to. It’s just stuff that’s made up on a page!

In terms of vendors banning stuff, this is a bit of a yes and no answer, which slightly contradicts my previous answer. I don’t think that erotic books about underage sex, child abuse, rape, etc, should be available—in my opinion it’s wrong to eroticise that kind of thing. In other genres, fine, as long as those topics are not there to titillate.

And as for the determining criteria, well, I’m steering away from that one! The above is just my opinion—it doesn’t mean I’m right. And it doesn’t matter, anyway, because vendors will just do what they feel is right.

LS: Most of your work that I have read has been M/F or M/F/M. Is M/M a new subgenre for you? How do you feel writing it? Is your focus or your writing strategy different in any way?

LF: No, M/M isn’t new for me. I’ve already got two M/M pieces published—Ditched is a military erotic short story, and Garden of Eden, which is available as part of Evernight Publishing’s HIS: Manlove Edition anthology is a BDSM M/M erotic romance. I also have a short story called Letters to a War Zone coming out in spring 2014, and a M/M shifter story in another Evernight Publishing anthology. There’s no release date for that one yet, but I suspect early 2014.
I enjoy writing M/M, but no more or no less than the other stuff I write. What I enjoy most is the variety, whether that’s the pairings or the setting, whether it’s contemporary or paranormal... I just love the fact that such different ideas pop into my head and I write them down, and amazingly, most of the time someone publishes them!

I don’t treat M/M any differently in terms of strategy, no. It’s a little more difficult, like F/F, or ménage, to make it clear who’s who in a scene, but other than that, it’s just the same.

LS:  Do you tend to use real life people or experiences in your writing? Any real world influences on Illicit Relations?

LF: Only in as much as I’m not a virgin! My private life is private, I don’t write about it. I may write about things I know about, have heard of, places I’ve been, etc, but other than that it’s pure fallacy. There is sort of a real world influence on Illicit Relations, but as I said before, sadly I can’t divulge the information because it’ll give the game away – sorry! You’ll just have to read it and find out ;)

Terry’s had a crush on his second cousin Justin for what seems like forever. He’s hidden it as well as possible, knowing that the other man is out of bounds, forbidden fruit. Second cousins getting together isn’t actually illegal, but for Justin the relationship is too close—he just can’t contemplate them being together.

But when some new information comes to light about Terry’s birth and his place in the family, the whole game changes. Suddenly the relationship isn’t so impossible, and things soon begin to get hot and heavy.

Excerpt

Terry deliberately averted his gaze as Justin tugged off his T-shirt and dove into the pool. The last thing he needed was to see him topless. His libido was already in overdrive and he was having trouble not jumping Justin’s bones. In fact, the only thing that held him back was the fact that Justin was his second cousin. They hadn’t been brought up particularly closely, so it wasn’t as if he were lusting after someone he considered to be a brother, but still. They were related and it was weird. Or it would be weird if anything happened between them, which it wouldn’t, of course. It would be wrong and they both knew it.

Terry assumed that was the reason Justin was avoiding him, anyway. They got on well and there was an obvious spark between them, but nothing inappropriate had ever taken place. For the most part, they acted as cousins should. Every now and again, though, he’d catch Justin looking at him. Equally, Terry would drink his fill of his cousin when no one else was looking.

Apparently it was getting increasingly difficult for Justin, too.

Right now, at the annual summer get together at Terry’s grandparents’ massive house in rural Warwickshire, the tension between them had never been higher.

What made the whole thing ten times worse was that neither of them had come out. So ending up together would be a double whammy for their families. He could see it now. Hey, everyone! I’m gay—and so is he. We’re together. Now as you were.

He didn’t know whether the reaction would be favorable or not.

He also knew that part of his frustration about the situation was because he hadn’t yet seen any point in coming out. His feelings for Justin ran deeper than he cared to admit, and for that reason he hadn’t been in a relationship with anyone—ever. Not a homosexual relationship, anyway. He’d had girlfriends back in the days when he hadn’t realized what his urges meant, but since then he’d been by himself and remained a virgin. He was surprised, actually, that no one in his family had asked whether he was gay. He could only assume that because he was so private generally, they thought he would only introduce them to someone when he felt it was absolutely right. That was his plan, in fact. To come out and introduce his partner at the same time. But until he got over this damn infatuation with Justin, he was never going to be any farther forward.

His thoughts ran on for several minutes until he was interrupted—and startled—by droplets of cold water falling onto his bare shoulder. He turned. Justin stood there, shaking his blond head and sending the droplets flying around. Apparently he wasn’t avoiding Terry anymore.

It was hot and he was wearing casual clothes, so Terry wasn’t bothered about getting wet, but for some reason, he snapped at Justin. “For fuck’s sake, do you have to do that here?”

Immediately Justin stopped and stared at him. They’d never had a cross word between them, not even when they were children. “Sorry, mate. I was just messing around. I didn’t think it would piss you off.”

His blue eyes were wide and Terry felt his irritation dissipating rapidly. He continued to rake his gaze down Justin’s half-naked form. His broad shoulders and wide chest, which was sprinkled with a handful of pale hairs. His toned stomach, the six-pack nicely defined but not too body-builderish. His arms were thickly muscled but suited his athletic frame. Deep-blue swimming trunks hid the area he most wanted to see but he relied on the glimpses he’d had over the years and his overripe imagination.

Thick thighs and calves and, unbelievably, nice feet—he didn’t generally like feet—finished off the package of perfection and Terry was suddenly extremely glad he had a book in his lap, because his cock was beginning to swell and press against the inside of his swimming shorts. He realized that a dip in the pool would be a pretty good antidote—the chilly water should take the heat from his cock. And if not, at least no one would be able to see the bulge unless they swam underwater.

It was stupid, really, trying to hide his erection from Justin. They both knew there was something between them, and he wanted to bury his hard cock inside Justin’s mouth or arse, not hide it beneath a fucking book.

He began to wonder whether they should just get together, and to hell with the consequences. It wasn’t illegal.

Justin sat down on the sun bed next to Terry and flashed him a smile. “Am I forgiven, then? I haven’t got your book wet, have I?” He reached out to grab the book, presumably to try to dry it, but Terry slammed his hand down quickly, catching Justin’s fingers beneath his in the process, not to mention giving his cock a bit of a smack.

No,” he ground out, wondering how he’d managed to get even a single word to fall from his lips. As soon as their fingers had touched he’d felt a spark that had run straight up his arm and multiplied throughout his entire body. His ebbing erection had immediately jumped back to attention, lifting the book slightly. He hoped against all hope that Justin hadn’t noticed but he had no such luck.

The blond’s gaze dropped to their still-touching fingers and, presumably, to the book and the thing beneath it that had caused the movement. He stared for a few seconds that felt like hours, then looked back up at Terry’s face. He opened his mouth then closed it again. For the first time ever, it seemed Justin was speechless.

A huge splash and a series of laughs from the pool broke the spell between them. Justin snatched his hand back and raked it through his hair. He opened and closed his mouth again, but for the second time nothing came out. He let out a heavy sigh and stood up looking dazed. He appeared to have trouble putting one foot in front of the other, as though he were drunk or had just woken from a very deep sleep. Of course, only the two of them knew the real reason for Justin’s behavior.

Finally Justin got his limbs to cooperate, and he made his way across to the table that held food and drinks, sheltered from the bright sunlight by a large, green gazebo.

Terry watched him go, a tumult of emotions running through his brain. Disappointment, confusion, anger, lust…they all assaulted him, though admittedly the last was screaming the loudest, a fact certainly not helped by Justin’s damp and topless state.

Now a feeling of despair took hold of him. What the fuck was he going to do?

Down the Rabbit Hole: Adventures in Yaoiland

By B.D. Heywood (Guest Author)

Thank you Lisabet for having me guest blog today. This is a new experience for me, and I am delighted to have this opportunity to chat with your readers. Is everyone comfy, feet up, glass of wine, Guinness, cuppa tea in your hand? Lovely.

Although I’ve been a writer for twenty-five years, I was a complete noob when it came to playing in the world of man-love novels. When the Cyber Universe laid a trap for me, I fell right into it.

I’m a bi-sexual, or genderqueer some may say, woman who trains horses, rides a Harley (when it isn’t in the shop) and worked a real job in the real world as a magazine editor. I march in the Gay Pride parade and grumble with my neighbor about taxes and crab grass. Normal enough that often someone will say to me in disbelief, “You write gay erotica?” I always answer with a resounding “yes.” If they haven’t shuffled away in embarrassment, I explain all about my adventures in Yaoiland.

Four years ago, I retired from my job as a non-fiction editor and writer. I was burned out and swore I’d never write another word. My Muse had bailed and was on permanent vacation in Fiji.

Then I fell down the hole into Yaoiland. It was a defining moment in my life. No kidding! I have chronic insomnia. About 2 a.m. while channel surfing, I landed on the exact moment in one of the most popular yaoi animes where two men kiss. Okay, my lifestyle is not exactly mainstream. I pal around with guys who kiss and hug and cop feels and are not shy about letting their feelings hang out. But this beautiful anime was a total revelation.

Utterly captivated, I tracked down the series and discovered there were more like it. And in book form called manga. And it was called “yaoi.” I was hooked. Within three months, my chubby mailman was complaining about the multitude of packages trooping daily to my door. I tried to explain. He looked at me and mumbled, “Takes all kinds,” and wandered away into the Arizona desert never to be seen again. Opps, sorry folks, he just walked back to his little mail truck.

Anime and manga were not enough for me. I wanted more about my favorite characters. Just like the commercial says, “more is better.” Then I found the Holy Grail—fan fiction. (Not alone am I? Some of you started your journey into M/M via fan fiction.) I posted several stories and to my astonishment (yes, really!) received many positive and thoughtful reviews.

Then I travelled to the country of M/M romance novels. Bought dozens and dozens of them by many popular authors. Somewhere during this total self-indulgence, I realized some of the stories were well-written, hot and sexy; deserve all the praise and profits they can get. But some were banal with two-dimensional characters and a plotline as thin as a razor blade. Those left me feeling cheated out of my money and time. And ticked off at the publishers for putting out the same banal junk over and over.

Originally, I thought I was being too critical. Once an editor always an editor. Many of my male gay friends love a good romance but they want stories have action and adventure in addition to anal sex. After reading my erotic fan fiction, my friends urged me to write a book. I laughed.

But the more I read, the more I became convinced that I could write an original story. I’d just spent a good chunk of my professional life as an editor and writer. Some of that knowledge should pay off. My Muse, looking fit and tanned, returned from Fiji and yelled, “What are you waiting for? Find a plot with a twist and put in lots of sex.”

I had time. I had a computer. I had ambition.

I had no story.

Anime and my Muse led me to Japan. Or to be exact, the Battle of Mii-dera and the Buddhist warrior monks who committed suicide. Honor through death. I could picture two lovers. The anguish of a betrayal. Eternal revenge. Eternal love. A plot!

I wanted to explore how my characters dealt with choosing between vengeance and love, knowing that choice could cost the most important thing to a samurai—honor. Although I chose to include some history, I wanted this to be a contemporary story with all screwing, sucking, rimming and other hot action that guys enjoy with each other. Somehow I had to move one of my heroes eight-hundred years into a dystopian future. Again, a 2 a.m. epiphany. One MC became a vampire. And the other was the reincarnation of his lover.

The Japanese culture became my new obsession. I immersed myself in movies and travelogues. I read Japanese romance, history, martial arts, myths and legends; took conversational Japanese and shinkendo classes, attended tea ceremonies, even tried cooking Japanese food (the burnt wok attests to the failure of that research). Next year a visit.

When I told a couple of my darling, but oh-so-kinky gay guys about my story, they plied me with the best porn. Then decided that porn was not enough and enthusiastically demonstrated the how and where things went in the bed. And told me how it felt. Pretty hot. Thanks fellas.

I wrote and revised and wrote and revised. Full of optimism, I submitted Eternal Samurai to the publisher of my favorite M/M novel. Lovely folk. The reply came back in nine days, “send the full manuscript.” The crushing disappointment arrived three weeks later. “Exciting story, great characters” but … here’s the but (not butt) the editor said the story did not fit what their readers had come to expect. In other words, my mix of romance and world-building did not fit their formula.

Huh? What do readers expect besides an exciting story full of fighting and drama and pathos and explicit man-on-man, or rather man-on-vampire love action set in a dark world? (Shameless plug here.)

That is when my adventure took a curious hitch. See, somehow in my exploration of the land of the M/M novel, I’d failed to see that most are written pretty much to a cookie-cutter formula. Really hot, young guy meets other hot young guy, have sex, fall in love, (or the other way around) hit a snag, solve the snag, HEA. Harlequin for gays. And yes, these books are arousing and give us a tingle in our guy or girl parts. Their endings are also comforting, like a lovely cuppa tea on a rainy night. However, there are hundreds of these stories out there but after while many sound the same. It’s like junk food, fattening but unsatisfying.

I was pretty sure I wasn’t serving junk food. Sushi maybe with a side of wasabi sauce. Hot and spicy! Undaunted, I jumped back on the query-go-round and submitted to three other M/M publishers. The editors kindly took the time to explain my wrong turn. But wait ... I didn’t take a wrong turn. I had just written a cross-genre story of erotic romance and paranormal fantasy that fell outside their box.

I decided, no matter what, I wanted to leave a legacy of my work. So, I chose to self-publish. This is not an easy route. Sure the book gets out there, pops up on Amazon and other sites. But too often the connotation is that a self-published work cannot be of good quality, and the author is somehow a failure. To this I say, “Bullshit!” Sure, self-pubbing allows all manner of books to see the light of the published day. Some are excellent, some are abysmal. But I’ve read several self-pubbed M/M novels that are better than some of the cookie-cutter books being churned out by current publishers.

I understand why publishers need to offer a product that their readers will buy. I was in the biz, after all. Editors are at the mercy of The Profit Margin God. Still, despite stating in columns, blogs and forums about wanting “the next new thing” the truth is, most houses will not take a gamble and publish something ninety degrees out of their norm. Wishing won’t change this but talking about it might.

I salute those who have secured a publisher. Whether you got there by talent or luck, you got there. But to all other novelists who are tired of the gut-churning rounds of submission and rejection, I say, be brave, have faith in your work. Make sure your novel is the best you can do, get it professionally edited because no matter what, you miss those sneaky typos. (I did!) Then publish your book yourself. Ignore the naysayers and critics who feel more emboldened to pick your novel apart because you self-published. If not for self-publishing, your story might remain as bytes on your hard drive. And you would deprive a fan of reading something exciting.

My adventure in Yaoiland is not over. Writing is a living thing. Characters and stories make themselves known and demand to be told. Each time I create a scene, I discover a new and better way to bring it to the reader. I hope each book I write is better than the last. And I hope that when a reader finishes Eternal Samurai, he or she will be satisfied and know their time and money was well spent.

I see my friend has brought me a ladder so I can climb off my soapbox but not without saying: Self-publishers, or if you prefer the term Indie publishers, stand up and be proud. We are a force to be considered. Now go out there and kick some publishing ass.

Blurb

In 1180, rather than accept defeat, Buddhist warrior monks of the Temple of Mii-dera, commit suicide. One, Saito Arisada, is turned into a vampire. Eight-hundred years later, a pandemic decimates half the human population and turns thousands into vampires. Driven by his vow of revenge, Arisada hunts a fractured world for the reincarnated soul of his lover who betrayed Mii-dera. When Arisada finds that soul in the human Tatsu Cobb, he realizes his love has never died. Arisada knows he can’t kill his unmei no hito—his soulmate. Yet, if he spares Tatsu’s life, Arisada will betray those he swore to avenge.

In 2024, Tatsu Cobb, the last of an ancient samurai house, comes to Seattle, hunting for the vampire that slaughtered his family. He meets Arisada who calls him “beloved” and kisses him. Even though Arisada might be his enemy, Tatsu falls in love with him. Both know that their love may not only cost them their lives, but also what is more precious to a samurai—his honor.

Excerpt

In this scene, the eight-hundred-year old vampire Saito Arisadahas just lost a sword match and a bet to the vampire hunter, twenty-four-year old Tatsu Cobb. Tatsu orders Arisada to undress. The vampire that killed Tatsu’s family was slashed across the back by a katana. Arisada’s back is covered by a beautiful tattoo but no scars. Naked, except for his fundoshi, loincloth, Arisada faces Tatsu. (Note: Because of their extreme age difference, Arisada refers to Tatsu as a boy.)

Tatsu’s sharp order to freeze surprised Arisada. He looked into that young face, the forehead furrowed into a scowl. The mouth, bowed lips bared over perfect white teeth. The eyes now turned sea-dark with lust. Saw with complete clarity that this was the true spirit of the warrior in Tatsu. The warrior who knew what he wanted, and was going to take it.

The katana’s tip nudged into the indent just below the vampire’s Adams’ apple. It touched the pale flesh, and halted a hair’s width from piercing the tender skin. Arisada froze. An incremental increase in pressure and Arisada felt the wound. Smelled the copper scent from that first drop of his own blood. He stepped back, weight on his rear leg. Still the katana kept up its relentless press. Arisada moved back again, his eyes never leaving Tatsu’s face. Another step, then another. With a hard thud, Arisada’s back hit the wall of the dojo. Perhaps the boy was going to take his life after all. Wakatta, so be it.

The move, so fast it was a blur, stunned the vampire. The sword sliced through his fundoshi at the waist. The blade continued its arc straight into its saya. In the same moment, Tatsu’s tanto replaced its brother at Arisada’s throat. Seconds later, the loincloth reached the floor.

Arisada’s cock bounced out free—pale and long and growing rapidly toward full arousal. The foreskin stretched back tight and thin revealing the head as pretty as a ripe apricot, the slit oozing with precum.

The feral look burned in Tatsu’s eyes as he stared at Arisada’s erection. Tatsu licked his lips, the lascivious gesture clearly unconscious.

His tanto never wavered as Tatsu moved chest-to-chest with Arisada. Their gazes locked. Understanding rippled between them. Both knew the vampire could break free perhaps before Tatsu realized it. Both accepted that escape was not even a consideration. A tiny moan escaped Arisada as he submitted.

A fine quiver washed over the vampire’s skin as the callused pads of Tatsu’s free hand trailed down his ridged belly. A harsh tug at curls around Arisada’s shaft, then the sublime, unutterable delight as the boy’s fingers curled around his cock in a hard grip, as if to inflict pain, as if to deny the pleasure of his actions. Arisada gasped as heat rolled through the turgid length of his pounding prick. His eyes, now scarlet with lust, closed in sweet surrender. Arisada’s top fangs slipped their channels and caught his lower lip.

Tatsu smelled that blood. As if he were kyÅ«ketsuki, its scent captivated him. His hand tightened its painful grip, pushing the silken foreskin back from Arisada’s weeping crown. Tatsu tugged Rolled his thumb over the slit that throbbed and leaked with raw sensitivity. Pearly juice seeped out, caught in Tatsu’s palm. He slicked it back along the swollen shaft. Rubbing, teasing, demanding. Tatsu’s hand assaulted the vampire’s tender flesh, each stroke faster than the one before. Yet, never for one instant did he release the relentless pressure of that knife tip against the vampire’s jugular.

Heat washed over the vampire’s cheeks, making the white lines of his scar stand out in graphic relief. The thin nostrils flared with every ragged breath. The full lips drew back over a mouth dropped partially open, fangs extended. Lust glittered from the vampire’s eyes, turned them molten with excitement.

Pain from Arisada’s cut lips sent want surging down into his groin. He gave free rein to his hunger, allowed his body to be engulfed in Tatsu’s fury. The skin of Arisada’s hardened cock stretched almost beyond endurance. Waves of fire spasmed from his sphincter deep into his entrails. Fingers stroked up then down with punishing force, the friction sending a sweet, delectable, pain through Arisada’s sex. The rub of a thumb over his throbbing crown. A sharp drag of Tatsu’s nail across the piss hole.

Every neuron in Arisada’s ass, his prick, his balls fired at the same time. The blast of raw heat, almost on the edge of pain, shot from Arisada’s rod. He rocked his hips, driving his sex a final time into Tatsu’s hand. Uncaring of the danger from that tanto, Arisada’s body convulsed jetting his spunk through his slit into the torturous grip of Tatsu’s palm.

With that first glistening jet, Arisada screamed. He twisted his head to one side, fighting the urge to tear into Tatsu’s throat, to feast on the boy’s rich blood and drain him of life. The vampire’s hands had gouged rents in the walls of the shiaijo. Arisada, his cock still spurting with aftershocks, lunged away from Tatsu. He felt the tanto slice across his neck. Falling to his knees, Arisada dropped his head between his hands and fought off the urge to drink. His breath came in great shudders. His vision blackened. The muscles along his arms and legs knotted as he dove within himself, seeking that infinitesimal center of peace. He fastened on it and used it drove back the lust for blood. When his body and mind at last belonged to him, he pushed himself to his feet and faced Tatsu.

The boy stood as if frozen, staring with a strange fascination at the slickness of cum clinging to his hand. Without lowering his knife, he sucked each digit one by one with slow, deliberate laps. With that final lick, the hunger on Tatsu’s face dissolved. He shook his head, the primal glare fading from his jade eyes.

Sumimasen,” Tatsu croaked. “I am sorry.” With a strangled cry, he bolted from the dojo.

Arisada leaned against the chill surface of the dojo wall, his body supported on shaking knees. He touched the thin cut across his throat. Looked in wonder at the smear of blood on his fingers. Somehow, Tatsu had prevented his tanto from cutting deeper and ending Arisada’s life.

Many minutes passed before he felt the strength to gather his clothes from their tumbled heap on the floor. Minutes that left him filled with wonder of the power in this human boy who had brought him gasping and begging to such a total surrender. Filled Arisada also with fear of how close he had come to ripping out the boy’s throat.

The vampire fastened his clothing with fingers that shook only slightly. He tightened his obi around his slim waist and tucked in his sword. Tatsu may have pleasured him as a show of dominance but Arisada knew the boy desired it as much. When Tatsu’s fingers circled Arisada’s tumescent organ, a covenant was fused. Tatsu gave himself to Arisada. Tatsu just didn’t realize it yet.

“Next time, my bishounen, I won’t allow you to win,” Arisada whispered. He smiled, a beautiful human smile with no show of fangs.
