Birthday Gifts for YOU – #Birthday #Giveaway #RomanticKink

Bettie Page pinup

So today’s my birthday. Not such a big deal when you get to be my age! It’s likely to be just another day. I have to work from nine to six, and don’t really have anything special planned for the evening. Probably my DH and I will have dinner at some local restaurant, share some wine, and go to bed before midnight.

But – I do want to celebrate here. So, I’ve got some presents for you, my beloved readers.

First of all, one of you can win a $5 bookstore gift voucher. All you have to do is leave a comment with your email address.

Second, I’m giving away free copies of my romantic BDSM short story collection, Hearts and Handcuffs, in your choice of formats, to everyone who wants it. Just go to Smashwords:

Put the book into your cart, then use this coupon code when you check out:

PA97M

The price will drop to zero, and you can download the book in mobi (Kindle), epub, or pdf format.

Not sure if you’re interested? Here’s the blurb:

Kink can be life-changing, cathartic, a spiritual experience. Sometimes, though, it’s just plain fun—particularly when your partner is someone special. Hearts & Handcuffs presents the lighter side of BDSM—the naughty joy to be found in exploring your pervy fantasies with someone whose desires complement your own—in six sizzling short stories that showcase Lisabet Sarai’s famously sexy prose.

In “Spank-o-gram”, a grumpy birthday boy receives an unexpected gift from his distant lover. “Wired” shows the extremes a woman will go to in order to get the attention of the man she wants. A neglected and frustrated slave turns the tables on her master in “Domestic Goddess”. In “Spank Me Again, Stranger”, a city gal learns how they celebrate birthdays out in ranch country. A case of mistaken identity leads to a dream come true in “Routine Maintenance”. The title tale “Hearts and Handcuffs” is a Valentine’s Day role playing romp, complete with costumes.

And here’s a light-hearted snippet from “Spank-o-gram”.

Okay, I'll admit that I was sulking. I had the right. It was nine PM on my birthday, and I was alone. No one had called or sent me a card. No one had invited me out to lunch or dinner. My housemate was away dealing with a family emergency and wouldn't be back until the next morning. I slouched in front of the TV, eating the Häagen Dasz capuccino truffle I'd bought for myself as a consolation present and meditating on my miserable existence.

When the doorbell rang, I considered ignoring it. Who could it be after all? Some buttoned up Jehovah's Witnesses, maybe, or someone who got the wrong address. Hardly worth the energy of getting up off the couch.

The visitor punched the bell again, more forcefully. I thought I heard frustrated determination in that ring. When I still didn't answer, whoever was out there leaned on the button for a full ten seconds.

All right, all right, keep your shirt on! I'm coming!” Setting my sticky bowl down on the side table, I made my way to the door. I couldn't see anything through the peephole, but then, it was pretty dark. “Who is it?” I called.

Spank-o-gram for Mr. Sandberg.” The voice was deep, but definitely female. My curiosity got the better of my caution. I opened the door. A tall woman of uncertain age wearing a gray uniform and carrying a clipboard glared at my tee shirt and gym shorts.

You are Mr. Sandberg?” Her tone suggested that if I weren't, I'd better have a darn good excuse.

Um—uh—yeah, that's me.” I was taking her in—all six feet of her. Her hair, a violent red that reminded me of those old troll dolls, was pulled into an old-fashioned twist. Her suit jacket strained with the effort of containing her full breasts. The skirt of her uniform stretched equally tight over her ample hips. Her face was all angles—high cheekbones, prominent nose, square chin—attractive in a ferocious sort of way. She resembled a female Genghis Khan.

Vell, are you goink to ask me in?” She poked my chest, interrupting my appreciative reverie. “I do not have all night. I have two more after you.” When I still didn’t answer, she swept past me, obviously tired of waiting. As she strode into my living room, I noted the way her curve of her ass distorted her uniform. I'd never seen anyone look less official.

Two more what?” I followed her, bemused. My cock was hardening inside my shorts. I felt as flustered and uncertain as a teenager.

I told you. Spank-o-grams.” She set her clipboard down next to my bowl. “Someone ordered one for you. Is your birthday, yes?”

Ah ... yes...”

Vell then.” She seated herself on the couch, back straight. Her taut skirt rode up, exposing her meaty thighs. “On my lap. I do not have time to vaste.”

Get your copy of this fun book while you can! The coupon expires next week.

Their love spans centuries -- #romance #travel #giveaway @Doug_Walsh75

Blurb

After getting blacklisted from the venture capital industry, twenty-nine-year-old Edward Vaughan will do anything to avoid telling his wife what happened. Even if it means agreeing to her dream of bicycling around the world. Kara, tired of being married to a workaholic, was readying for a divorce. Now, she’s packing bags of a different kind. Together, they pedal away from Seattle, headed east on the open road across America, Europe, and beyond.

Theirs is a decision that reverberates across centuries, shattering a continuum that bound their souls throughout time, and traps Edward in a battle with a past life over an eternal love.

As the miles roll by, and the couple's sordid secrets begin to surface, the couple encounters several men plucked from history, each one a vessel of Edward’s soul in a prior life. Of them, a 19th century art dealer proves dangerous, believing Kara is his ticket back to the past.

Tailwinds Past Florence is a contemporary love story with a magical twist, landing readers in the saddle of a global bicycle adventure.

Excerpt

With no kids on the horizon or in-laws willing to travel all that way, the second bedroom had become a land of forgotten hobbies. Dust-covered mountain bikes leaned where a dresser may have stood, a paint-splattered drop cloth took the place of a guest bed, an empty easel in lieu of a mirror.

As he rose from picking up the shoe, an unexpected absence caught his eye. The map was gone. For months it had hung opposite the door, above a bookcase lined with old college texts and a copious collection of brushes and paint tubes. Now, in its stead, only thumbtack holes in the same not-quite-white (Kara called it Saffron Lace) that covered every wall in their Seattle apartment.

She brought the map home last fall, a laminated Rand-McNally depicting every country on earth in shaded relief. Accompanying it was a proposal to bicycle around the world. She wanted him to take a sabbatical—a laughable notion in the world of venture capital—and spend a year or three traveling.

Issues of Adventure Cyclist appeared in the bathroom soon after, borrowed travel guides rotated across her nightstand, and seemingly every conversation held an air of wanderlust, with Kara pining for small towns and country roads, campfire beers at sunset. Just the two of us, she’d say in a coquettish whisper. While we’re still young. Edward could only guess what spurred her restlessness and expected it to vanish as abruptly as it emerged.

The map hadn’t gone far. A quick search found it crunched into a football of discarded fantasy, punted behind a pile of bags and boxes. By the looks of things, she’d cleaned out the closet.

He unfurled the map, exposing a runaway squiggle of black ink. His eyes locked on the map’s northwest corner, where a star marked the departure point. Home. From there, the line dipped and danced across the northern United States and Canada before dashing south from London to Spain. Onward it went, around the Mediterranean to Greece, Turkey, and beyond. Edward followed the trail, past a who’s who of countries he knew nothing about, to China and Vietnam and a hand-drawn smiley face clear on the other edge of the poster, in Bali.

She’d given up on it. No. She gave up on me.

Review Tuesday: New York Heat by Cameron D. James - #ReviewTuesday #MMRomance #LGBTQ

New York Heat cover

New York Heat by Cameron D. James
Deep Desires Press, 2018

Club 21 has long been an institution for the New York City gay community. Dan is in his fifties, but he remembers his youthful erotic adventures at the club, many in the company of his close friend Brad. He can hardly believe he’s now the owner of Club 21, hoping to serve a new generation of LGBTQ New Yorkers and make some money at the same time. Sometimes he doubts his ability to keep the place afloat; he never realized how much effort and stress would be involved in running his own business. With his young lover Ken at his side, though, he’s determined to succeed.

Ken is one of the club’s famed Go-Go boys, but he’s more than a fling. Despite the age difference, Ken is devoted to Dan, and vice versa.

Meanwhile, Brad is pursuing his own dream, buying the now-defunct leather bar next to Club 21 in order to transform it into a hot yoga studio. Like Dan, Brad has developed a serious relationship with a much younger man. Simon is more than willing to follow Brad from Toronto to New York and help him realize his vision of New York Heat. Brad can hardly believe how fortunate he is.

Both men’s plans appear to be flourishing. Dan’s Club 21 is as popular as ever; meanwhile, renovations are complete and the yoga center is almost ready to open. Then a young man terrified by his own homoerotic desires pulls a gun in the middle of the crowded dance floor and murders more than a dozen people, including one of the club’s bartenders.

The catastrophe almost kills Dan’s dream as well. He’s too heartsick to keep the club going. However, with the help of his friends—who are really more like family—he comes to understand that Club 21 belongs not just to him, but to the community. It needs to survive in order to prove that hate and fear will never triumph over love.

New York Heat is an ambitious novel. The plot summary above does not begin to capture its richness. The book follows the developing relationships of five gay couples who are connected with Club 21. In addition to Dan and Ken, and Brad and Simon, the author brings readers into the lives of Lance and Liam, a bartender and a dancer; Jake and Paul, a bartender and a DJ; and Xander and Gabriel, Go-Go boy and bouncer, respectively. Each pair has a different dynamic, driven by the history, doubts, and fears of the men involved. They have two things in common: true love and hot sex.

Indeed, there’s a lot of sex in this book—twenty eight scenes according to the author, though I didn’t count them. I enjoyed these scenes, at least partly because I haven’t read that many MM erotic romances written by gay men. On the other hand, I have penned a few books in this genre myself, so I was curious as to whether there were major differences between what I’d imagined and what I would assume are descriptions of first hand experience.

These guys are all pretty randy. However, their sex drives are (very realistically) governed by their emotions as well as external circumstances. When the characters are stressed, anxious or depressed, their libido goes out the window, even when they’re in the company of their lovers. I appreciated this. After the shooting, nobody has sex, for a long time. A dark cloud of death and failure hangs over the characters. Hope and desire are inextricably linked. As Club 21 rises from the ashes of tragedy, the characters’ receptivity to sex increases as well.

The crisis of the shooting is handled very well. Likewise, I found the final chapters which bring the return of hope and healing a true inspiration. On the other hand, the chapters before the shooting seemed to drag a bit. The author chronicles the development of love and trust within each of the couples, but I found some of the chapters repetitious. It also took me a while to sort out who was who, especially since six of the ten main characters have one syllable names.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed this novel. I found it quite a contrast with Mr. James’ earlier tales about Club 21, some of which feature the same characters. Those stories were erotica, tales of hot casual hookups between sexy guys. New York Heat, on the contrary, presents a set of intertwined love stories. The sex is still as hot, but it’s a very different emotional experience for the men involved, and for the reader.

Cameron James has a talent for writing both sorts of stories.

For Her Honor by @HollyBush - #Giveaway #HistoricalRomance

For Her Honor cover
Blurb

1873

Adam Gentry, heir to the celebrated Paradise Stables in Virginia, is haunted by the visions of his lost love. Feeling cursed by fate, he slips deeper into grief, shrouded in a cloud of liquor and depression, and neglects his duties and responsibilities. But when Adam is forced to accept that there’s nothing he can do to change his past, he knows he must move on.

And he accepts his own destiny: that he will never love again.

Emmaline Somerset finds herself in the worst possible position any unmarried woman can be in. She will have to abandon all of her plans, hopes, and dreams for an independence using her own talents. The only viable solution is to move to a distant relative’s home and reinvent herself as a widow with an infant. No one will ever be the wiser.

Adam, now determined to secure the Gentry legacy, plans to save longtime family friend Emmaline from her embarrassment with an offer of marriage. But what Adam didn’t plan on was how his unexpected attraction to her would stir something inside of him, something he's kept locked deep within.

Can love finds its way between two troubled souls, one driven by duty, the other by honor, both determined to find their way home?

Emmaline Somerset’s bedroom door opened, and her mother poked her head inside. “Mother, please,” she began but stopped speaking as the door opened wide and Adam Gentry walked into her room.

I know this is unusual, Mrs. Somerset, but certainly you’ve known me and my family long enough to know that I intend nothing untoward. But I would like to speak to your daughter alone.”

Adam stared at her as he spoke to her mother and she could see Jane and Betsy behind him, eyes wide and their hands over their mouths.

It’s not p-proper, Adam,” her mother stuttered.

I’m fine, Mother. Stand outside my door if you wish.”

Emmaline looked at him and noticed that he was thinner than the last time she saw him. He was still very handsome and even intimidating, filling the room with his presence. He was the oldest among her generation of Gentrys and Somersets but had been removed a bit from the rest of them as they grew up together. A bit apart from John and Matthew and Jim, who’d been fast friends growing up, and from Olivia and Nettie and Marabelle Winston, whose family owned the mercantile, and her. He hadn’t been aloof, but he hadn’t gotten into the same type of trouble that John and Matthew had.

Women swooned over him, and he smiled back and tipped his hat in such a way that made a female feel as if she was the only person of her sex in the world. Except right now he wasn’t looking so sure of himself and not particularly happy, either.

Charity Sunday: National Multiple Sclerosis Society - #CharitySunday #MSWarrior #donation

Charity Sunday banner

Welcome to my first Charity Sunday for 2019. Today I’m focusing on the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A number of my readers and my author friends are battling MS, a progressive neurological disease whose cause is not yet fully understood and which currently can be managed, but not cured.

The National MS Society is working to change that. Their vision is bold: a world without MS. The Society provides authoritative information, resources and support for people affected by MS, connecting them and helping them to lead more comfortable and more productive lives. In addition, the MS Society funds research - $40 million dollars worth, in 2018 alone - into fundamental causes, treatments and potential cures.

As usual on Charity Sunday, I will donate one dollar to my chosen charity for each person who leaves a comment. To give you something to comment on ;^), I have an excerpt from one of my books. I don’t have any titles featuring people afflicted with MS, but Lydia, the heroine in Dragon Boat Blues, is disabled and knows very well what it’s like to live with diminished physical capacity.

So please read my snippet below and tell me what you think. Then, if anyone you know is living with MS, share the post and get others to do the same. The more comments I receive, the more money will go toward eliminating this disease forever.

Oh, and if you want to do more – you might consider buying a copy of Coming Together Presents Robert Buckley. I edited this collection of tales, part of the Coming Together altruistic erotica project. The author’s daughter has MS, and all sales proceeds go to support the National MS Society.

Take your chances as they come

My lost superhero Josh had jet black hair, movie star cheekbones, clever hands, the devil’s mouth, and an instinct for driving me crazy. Josh believed in his own myths. He was forty miles an hour over the speed limit that day, more powerful than a locomotive, when we smashed into the tractor trailer. He blew out like a candle. I sputtered in a sort of half life, year after year, marked forever by that brief dance with insanity.

I booked the dragon boat cruise on Ha Long Bay to use up a few free days at the end of my business trip, figuring my disability wouldn’t be a problem on the luxurious junk. I wasn’t looking for companionship, just a bit of peace. But when British honeymooners Stan and Phil welcomed me into their circle of love, I discovered how much healing I still needed.

Excerpt

I didn’t have much difficulty getting into the dinghy—just handed my cane to the guide, sat on the pier, and eased myself down to sit with the rest of the tourists. Boarding the wooden junk anchored out in deeper water was another story. A ladder of planks and rope led from the open rowboat to the deck above. To climb, I would have to put all my weight on my bad leg. I knew that wouldn’t work.
I balanced precariously in the dinghy, surveying the situation. Maybe this was a bad idea after all.

Up you come, love.” The speaker leaned over the rail of the junk, offering a ham-sized paw. “Give us your hand.” He had a ruddy complexion and a curly russet mop threaded with gray.

Are you sure? I’m not exactly light.” I’d never been petite, and since the accident, I’d put on quite a few pounds.

No problem,” said his younger, sandy-haired companion. “We’re used to tossing hay bales.” He shot me a friendly grin and extended his arm in parallel with his friend’s. “Just hold on tight. That’s the way.”

I gripped their wrists. They did the same to me. As they began to haul me upward, the dinghy captain clamped me around the waist and lifted me off my feet. My good leg flailed, trying for a foothold on the rungs of the ladder. It was all very awkward and embarrassing, but in a few moments I was standing safe on the deck.

The guide passed me my cane, then scrambled up the ladder like a monkey.

You alright?” The burly older man shot a wry look at the tangled rope contraption the guide was pulling over the gunwale. “Not exactly accessible, that.”

Thanks for your help.” My long shirt had bunched up below my breasts. I smoothed it down over my leggings, feeling flustered and sweaty. “Probably I should have thought about that before I booked the cruise.”

C’mon! And miss this?” My other rescuer made a sweeping gesture, indicating the lavishly appointed ship. “All this carved teak and polished brass?” The crimson sails over our heads snapped in the wind as the junk began to move. “Ha Long Bay’s supposed to be one of the wonders of the world. We’ve been saving to take this trip for three years.”

His enthusiasm made me feel so old. “I’m in Hanoi on business. One of my meetings got canceled, so I had a few free days. My hotel suggested this would be a good way to spend them.”

You’ve got to take your chances as they come.” The stocky fellow smiled down at me and took my elbow in a gentlemanly fashion. “Why don’t we go up front, so we can see where we’re headed? I’m Stanley, by the way. Stan, folks call me. And this is Phil.”

I nodded, warmed by their friendliness despite my sour mood. “A pleasure. Lydia Sutton. You’re from England, I gather?”

Phil gave an energetic nod. “Dorset. Stan and me run a dairy farm now. Before, though, I worked as an insurance clerk in London. Before we met.”

He flashed a look of pure adoration at his companion.

Oh. I hadn’t pegged them as gay.

Stan saw the light dawn in my face. “We’re on our honeymoon. We always dreamed of traveling in Asia.” He paused, peering at me with a puzzled expression. “You look so familiar. Lydia, you say? Any chance we’ve met? Ever spend any time in London? Or done a Brighton weekend?”

I fought my sudden panic. No one was about to recognize me. I’d changed too much. “I visited London once, but that was long ago, when I was in college. These days most of my trips are here, or to Shenzen.”

Please don't forget to leave a comment!

A dynamite review for The Witches of Gloucester - #review #lesbian #audio @bibrary

Witches of Gloucester cover

You might remember that a few weeks ago I announced the release of TheWitches of Gloucester in audio format.

I don’t usually brag about reviews... but when a blogger whom I truly respect says wonderful things about one of my books, I really have to share.

Go read Sally Bend’s comments on the book. I won’t quote them here. That would be too much like bragging.

Needless to say, though, I’m thrilled.

Excerpt

Delmar’s voice was sad and serious. “I come to ask the three of you for your help. I have nowhere else to turn. The courts won’t help me. The legal system is useless,” his words tumbled out. “You see, for it was I, who started my problem in the first place, and well the courts won’t even hear my case,” he sighed heavily.

Glenda sighed. “This sounds serious if you can’t use your money to persuade the courts.”

It is serious,” Delmar assured them. “Let me go back to the beginning. Perhaps you were aware of my case in court almost a year ago, concerning the twin sons, that Tiara Blake, had?”

Yes, of course, it was all over the news,” Consuelo stated, in an excited Spanish accent.

Yeah, I heard all about it too,” Nona said glumly. “The DNA found you were not the father and those tests are normally 100% accurate.”

Yes, they are supposed to be. But there are ways around them,” Delmar paused. “You see a root worker, a spell caster. She assured me, that she could cast a spell that would exclude me as the father of the twins.”

Glenda interrupted. “Yes, but everyone knows that DNA is 100 percent foolproof and it doesn't lie. No spellcaster or root worker can mess with biological DNA.”

Glenda is right,” Nona stated. “DNA tests are considered infallible – they are the gold standard in court.”

Lora will find a way to save not only herself, but her planet as well.

While there, he encounters Lora, whom he soon recognizes as his TrueBond. The only problem…she’s imprisoned and scheduled for experiments that will destroy her.

Now D’zia has a hard choice to make. Should he stay and get the proof he needs to prevent a narcissistic megalomaniac from taking over the galactic government…or escape with the only female he can claim as his own?

Excerpt

An eternity passed before Lora’s brain cells decided to come back online. Which wasn’t easy since D’zia had pulled her hips into his hard groin. Holy shamoka, was all of that for her? Wait, what did he say? Something about a JR10?

D’zia.” She pulled her mouth away from his while her inner nasty girl screamed to keep going. “Don’t, I can’t think when you kiss me.” Her heartbeat was going crazy and it was hard to breathe.

Okay, take in a few deep gulps of air…yeah, now she was calm. Right. She put her hands on the sides of his face to place him farther back from her so she could gaze into his eyes. Feminine pride warmed her as she took in the dazed, unfocused stare he gave back. Lordy, those dual-colored orbs were beyond beautiful, especially dilated in passion. His wet, full lips were tempting, and she’d love to spend eternity bathing in the weight of his intense focus.

His three-fingered hands burrowed under her loose tunic to wrap around her naked waist; his palms massaged her eager skin in heavy strokes.

She jumped when warm oils under his hands caused a path of lightning to cover her skin wherever he caressed. A fleeting scent of spiced licorice teased her nose. She drew in a shuddering breath as she cleared her throat. “D’zia, please, let’s stop and think about this.”
