My Other Passion (#hotrod #vampire #eroticromance)

By G.D. Ogan (Guest Blogger)

Hi, I'm G.D. Ogan author of the Immortal Relations adult paranormal-romance series which I've loved writing. I also love reading all types of books but mostly histories and paranormal (vampire) stories. More about the books I write after I show you my other passion, which I indulge when I am not reading and writing
my vehicles.

First up is my 1964 Studebaker station wagon called a Wagonaire because the rear top slides forward turning it into a truck to carry tall items. The roof is only partially forward in this picture; however, with it all the way forward I've had six ladies standing up in the back during a parade. Safety and reliability are important so while it looks all original from the outside we installed four-wheel power disc brakes and power steering along with a more modern computer controlled 5.7Dodge Hemi engine, five-speed automatic transmission and modern suspension. These pictures are from Vernon, Texas where they have a "Last Blast of Summer" car show and cruise through the town usually the last week in August (rather hot)! I'm planning on doing at least part of the Hot Rod Power Tour 11-17 June (depending upon the weather which hasn't been good - floods now in the coastal regions and some central parts of Texas). I love to take it to car shows because there are only a very few of this year and model still left.

Next is my 1966 Mustang Convertible. It has been modified with a more powerful engine and transmission with modern suspension and disc brakes up front - they are non-power so I have to push down harder. It does have power steering and the pony interior has been re-dyed back to the original dark red color. These first generation Mustangs are still available; however, they are getting harder to find in the Convertible model. The pictures are from a "Fun Ford Weekend" and its trunk holds a few of the awards it has won at the Fun Ford Weekend events.

Third up is my 2005 Roush-Mustang Convertible, which has been taken to a whole new level with a Supercharged-Livernois-Stroker Engine, a TR-6060 six-speed transmission and McCloud Twin Disc Clutch with more capable Baer Brakes up front. This is a pussycat as long as it is kept under 3,000 rpm where the boost is docile but then it turns into a Lion when the accelerator is depressed. It has a lot of suspension modifications along with extremely "sticky" Pirelli racing tires. I've had it on a road course a couple of times where it proved itself very well - now it is just for cruising and an occasional car show. Both it and my 66 were featured in Musclesport Mustang magazine some years ago.

As for me, I'm no longer a "Spring Chicken". I am a retired USAF Major where I had the opportunity to be stationed in many parts of the world. I'm also retired from working at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice writing treatment materials for prison inmates with addiction problems that often resulted in them getting into criminal activities and as an Associate Clinical Psychologist doing "intakes" on inmates. My wife and I are ardent dog lovers having had mostly Pomeranians (we still have one 15 and one 8 years old). Our adult children have a number of large, lovable (if rambunctious) rescue dogs such as pits and bulldogs - they live in other parts of Texas so we don't get to see them (or the grandchildren) as often as we would like.

Now for the more "commercial" comment: If you are interested in reading a totally unique vampire series where those who were turned against their will refused to abase themselves by becoming the blood-thirsty "Bram Stoker" type of vampires. Rather they safeguard innocent humans and animals from evil then you'll enjoy reading my "Immortal Relations" (adults only because of what I call explicit togetherness). Each book is a stand-alone story - no cliff hangers and the vampires don't sparkle. For those who would like less sex in their reading, they can start with book two as it has a short summary of the most important action of the first book in the first part as a conversation between the hero and one heroine.

Immortal Relations (Book 1)

When Gary Logan discovers an old black-and-white photograph of his father in Prague with a woman’s handwriting on the back, he flies there to investigate where his father worked only to meet and fall in love with a beautiful lady who he believes to be a vampire. In love with her, Gary is initiated into her coven of guardian vampires, beginning an extraordinary journey of epic proportions.

Exciting, erotic, and full of heart-stopping action, Ogan’s debut novel turns human vampire lore on its head, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two species that deepens emotional connections to astonishing effect. But a coven of evil vampires bent on destroying the guardian vampires and feeding on the humans at will have other plans. Adam, however, assists humans in almost wiping out the evil coven, beginning the ever-increasing relationship between vampires and humans. Gary and Adam then save Great Britain from nuclear theft and attack; when their nemeses make one last-ditch effort in Russia to bring all of the peaceful societies down, Gary, Adam, and their coven must save the human species before their enemy’s plans can come to fruition.

Probing the gray areas inherent in sexuality, family, and legend, Ogan weaves an amazing tale that examines the very nature of existence. An unrelenting thrill-ride of passion and action, Immortal Relations will leave you breathlessly awaiting the series’ second installment.

Sneak Peek: Immortal Relations - Coming Out, by G.D. Ogan

Blurb

Immortal Relations Coming Out, third in the series by G. D. Ogan continues to rock the foundation upon which typical vampire novels are based. Such stories, where vampires safeguard humans are rare indeed. These vampires do their utmost to save humans and animals from not only evil vampires but evil humans.

Ogan's insights into the powers of the immortal vampires, along with fresh takes on the complex inner workings of their existence provide an intriguing experience for readers. In this story a novice shape-shifter wolf meets a beautiful hybrid vampire. Good vampires set up a new coven in Southern Canada to monitor a regime intent on changing American into a dictatorship. Marxist thugs, not realizing who they are dealing with, still believe the group was partly responsible for the defeat of Communists intent on stealing oil, gold and mineral reserves from Russia, so Washington retaliates with violence. A great deal of effort is required by the vampires to keep Canadian citizens safe. There is a vampire wedding with a handsome human; then dangers from outer-space suddenly appear to threaten the entire earth - can such threats be stopped?

A reader of
Immortal Relations said: "Being a bit of a vampire-phile, I find myself constantly searching for the next vampire series to reach out and grab, or, more appropriately, bite me. I believe I have found my holy grail of vampire novels..."

Excerpt (from pages 147-149): Vlad Dracula is talking with one of his newest vampire friends, Gary Logan. Vlad has explained how he and other of the oldest vampires have progressed to the point where they need little if any blood. Gary has asked why the out-of-control vampires continue to attack humans.

Vlad replies (through thought transference) “They get a thrill from the hunt and then, as the life drains from their victims, it provides a rush from the feeling of power over the living.”

Gary: “If I may be so bold, have you had such feelings in the past?”

Vlad smiled and nodded slowly, "It was a very, very long time ago Gary. We were fighting what you would call 'an asymmetrical war' against Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror and his Muslim invaders who outnumbered us at least three to one. I was looking for anything to slow them down. I guess you would say I used psychological warfare by building the 'forest' of impaled enemy soldiers we had defeated in previous battles. While we had numerous successes against units of the invaders we unfortunately were unable to hold off so large an invading army. It was about this time I was changed into what I am today. I was always in the front lines of battle and routinely soaked in blood. Perhaps that is what changed me into a vampire. One of my own Generals saw me surrounded by enemies and saw blood spurting up in the air. Thinking it was my blood he sent word that I'd been killed. My dear wife was distraught and threw herself from the heights of our Poenari Castle into the Arges River below.

Then my second cousin, Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary, from whom I had sought help in prosecuting the war, imprisoned me. Locked away, I soon became crazed with the desire for blood I would have otherwise found on the battlefield. Many fellow prisoners died because of it and after my escape I was a plague on the land. It took all too long before I regained some sense of my lost humanity.”
With downcast eyes Vlad thought, “Which is where the myths, legends and stories about me started – I’m afraid I earned them all.”

I reached over and patted him on the arm saying, “I’m sorry I brought up a topic that has induced clearly painful memories for you.”

Vlad smiled at me, “No, it is alright. If you haven’t heard the story before I think you need to know the type of vampire you follow. I hope it won’t detract from our relationship.”

“Never fear of my continued admiration and respect for you. You were a great leader fighting to free your people from an oppressive invader. Since you had no one to guide you after you were changed, as a ‘newborn’ vampire you did what came naturally. However, it begs the question, how did you stop?”

“I married again and she helped me overcome the constant thirst, giving me some of her own blood, and she brought me back to God.”

With tears in my eyes I thought, in reply to Vlad, “Women are clearly the superior gender, without them we men would be little better than wild beasts. “

Born in Washington D.C. during WW-II, I attended Washington and Lee High among other schools in the area before my parents moved us to Northern California where I ran track and cross-country. I received an Associates degree from Foothill J.C. then transferred to Texas Christian University where I received my Bachelors and commission in the USAF. I did a lot of writing while in the service, was stationed in many parts of the world and received a Masters from Ball State University's European Campus. After retiring, I finished a second Masters at Hardin-Simmons University (none of these were in English or Literature as my novels will attest). I then worked in the field of psychology both in a clinical setting and with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I live in West Texas with my wife of 47 years and our three Pomeranians. Writing and reading are a passion along with a few antique automobiles and 60's muscle cars.
