Haunted House

Do you scare easily? I don’t. Might be because I grew up with a brother who used to scare me growing up. His favorite was hiding under my bed and grabbing my feet when I’d sat on my bed. Or maybe its because my first introduction to horror was when I was seven. I snuck downstairs to see what movie my parents were watching. I was curious why there was someone screaming. I snuck down just in time to see a woman chop a guys head off. Yep, it scared the crap out of me and I had nightmares. Or maybe it’s the time my sisters and I were walking home from a late evening movie. The movie was “Cujo”. While walking home, we walked passed a building with a huge chain linked fence surrounded it. Just as we were walking on t6he sidewalk beside the fence, a huge dog ran at the fence barking wildly. Needless to say we ran the rest of the way home.

I feel that becaused I was intoduced to scares early I became desensitized to horror. There is very little that scares me now. Only one movie has managed to frighten me was “Sinister”. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. It’s a paranormal thriller about an author who moves his family into a house where the family was murdered. He writes about the murder that occurred there. While researching the murders, he comes across an old film projector showing gruesome murders. He begins to see and hear things. It’s not just that the movie is scary, it’s the music they use that really amps up the fear. Every good horror and paranormal movie has music in it used as a hint that something bad is going to happen. “Sinister” uses it in the perfect place.

I enjoy a good horror movie, but my favorite is hauntings. In my youth I lived in a haunted house. The current house I live in is haunted by an elderly gentleman who loves to play pranks. One time my daughter and I were watching Family Guy when a ball rolled into the room. We both saw him sitting on the couch and one time while I was alone in the house while my hubby was out of town the toilet seat was up. No men had been around since my hubby had left days earlier. So you can understand why I love the paranormal. Ghosts stories. I enjoyed the “Paranormal Activity” movies as well as “Amityville Horror”. “The Conjuring”. “The Hell House” series. “The Sixth Sense”. “1408”. “The Others”. “Gothica”. I could go on, but you get the idea.

I’ve written several novels about paranormal romance. Discovery in Passion, Secrets of the Dead, Innocence of the Dead, and Revenge of the Dead. A lot of my stories come from personal experiences as well as dreams I’ve had. I tend to have very vivid nightmares.

You might be wondering where the romance part comes from. I’m a romantic at heart. I love putting two people in a story that is scary just to break it up. I mean, who doesn’t love a good romantic story? Mine, however, aren’t flowery Harlequin romances. I’ve never been a fan of Harlequin romances. I feel they are pretty much the same. My couples are a little gritty. My female characters are often headstrong and determined. Not the ‘I need a man to be whole’ romance. What better way to discover love than by seeing how tough a person is in a sticky situation?

Well, I’ve babbled enough. How about I share the blurbs from my paranormal ghost stories?

Oh - and I'm giving away copies of any three of my books to one lucky person who leaves a comment on this post! Be sure to include your email.

Discovery in Passion

Wanting to start fresh, Cassie Evans relocates to the small town of Passion where she moves into the home of her dreams, complete with dreamy next-door neighbor, artist, and handyman Thomas Healy. The only problem is, the house she bought just might be haunted.
Thomas Healy lives a life of solitude and that suits him just fine. Then Cassie Evans moves in next door and begins to turn his peaceful life upside down. He tries to ignore her, but ignoring a woman as beautiful as Cassie isn’t so easy, especially when she shows up at your door, naked, begging for you to paint her. Thomas’ first mistake was to agree to it, his second was to take Cassie to bed, now she’s all he can think about.

When their blossoming love is overshadowed by a ghostly haunting, the curious Cassie launches an investigation into the life and death of her home’s previous owner, uncovering a mystery and attracting the attention of a killer. Where will Cassie’s discovery lead her, to the love of her life or to death itself?

Secrets of the Dead

Book 1 in the Lost Souls Series

Jessica Coltrane is a diehard sceptic who believes ghosts and paranormal activity are nothing more than a figment of an overactive imagination. That is until she finds herself locked inside a haunted house with the enigmatic paranormal investigator C.J. Dowling.

Born with the ability to see and speak to the dead, C.J. Dowling thought investigating a haunted house would be a job like many others. He’s prepared for anything—except smart and sexy Jessica.

Working together in close quarters, C.J. and Jessica discover it isn’t only negative tension between them but sexual as well. Giving in to their desires seems like a good idea until they wake and find the spirits thought otherwise. They are trapped with the ghost of a child long forgotten, an amorous entity threatening Jessica, and a powder keg of a spine-tingling mystery that might just be better left buried.

Innocence of the Dead

Book 2 in the Lost Souls Series

Samantha Dowling sees ghosts. As much as she hates her gift, she can’t ignore the spirit of a murdered young girl who haunts her dreams. As she digs into the death, she learns she’s not the only missing child in the city. And no one seems to be doing anything about it. Running into the very sexy Ethan Montgomery at his bookstore where she’d doing her research adds a whole new element to the mix.

From the first moment Ethan Montgomery sees Sam, he knows she’s meant to be his. Unfortunately, his soon-to-be ex-wife Gwen is determined to bring Ethan down any way she can, and his attraction to Sam is an opening she won’t pass up.

Despite her interference, Sam and Ethan’s romance blossoms. In secret. But sneaking around isn’t as easy as they thought when others discover their relationship.

And when Sam learns the identity of the murderer, it puts her in their crosshairs. Unless Ethan can get to her in time, their romance will have a deadly end.

Revenge of the Dead

Book 3 in the Lost Souls Series

Standing over a dead body holding a gun is never a good thing. Especially when it’s your soon-to-be ex-wife, Gwen. And when it comes out that she’s been blackmailing him, Ethan is their prime suspect. Proving his innocence is not going to be easy. Luckily, he has his lover, Samantha, on his side.

Spiritual guide Samantha Dowling has seen pretty much everything the dead can throw at her. Just having solved a case of missing children, she’s looking forward to a life with the man she loves, Ethan Montgomery. Being woken by a nightmare of her lover standing over his wife's dead body, gun in hand, Sam knows what she has to do.

When she goes to the scene of the crime, the last thing she expects is for the ghost of Ethan’s ex to be there. Getting an entity to talk is never easy, but this time, the ghost is being spiteful. Gwen wants Ethan to suffer. Because Ethan doesn’t know she can speak to the dead, Sam has to sneak around to try and exonerate him.

Will Sam risk having her heart broken by telling Ethan, and can she get the spirit to talk before it’s too late?

My sister has a ghost that has followed her around for years... I have had a few encounters with him... the scariest was actually seeing him...
